The OT --- 01/11/09
I've never made one of these OT thingamajigs.
What are your favorite quotes? Witticisms, sayings, mottos, epigraphs, etc.
For example, here are some of mine:
From "Sometimes a Great Notion" --- "Man will oppose everything except a hand extended; that he will stand up in the face of every hazard except lonely time."
From Oscar Wilde --- "A true friend stabs you in the front."
From Debi Gliori: --- "A volunteer is someone who doesn't want to do something, but ends up being morally blackmailed into doing it anyway."
From Cyril Connelly --- "Whom they wish the destroy the gods first call promising."
Baseball-related ones are always good.
Additionally, who's going to win the Super Bowl, NCCA tourney, and Stanley Cup, and why?
Oh, and World Series. Can't forget about that.

only if you count the Dolphins in 82
but that was a strike shortened year. I think that the only team that has made the Super Bowl with less than 10 wins in any non-strike year was the 79 Rams.

The Cards don't bother me
Then again, I rooted for the Angels to win the WS in 2002 because I found them inoffensive.
Either way, if the Iigles win today (hope hope hope) then I really don’t mind who wins the Super Bowl. I wouldn’t mind seeing the Chargers, Philly, or the Cards winning. And while I still hate the Steelers for 2005, I love their defense.

Don’t look at me that way. I’d just moved to Vancouver in October 2000, and I saw that the M’s had just signed this cool Japanese guy I’d heard about on Iron Chef (really, they’d talk about Ichiro on Iron Chef).
It was a good year for a first year.

As much as I dislike the Red Wings
There is no team that is analogous to the Yankees. Perhaps the Rangers, except for the winning part. With the salary cap, no hockey team can do what the Yankees do. Also, no other fan in sport can be as bad as Yankee fans. Red Sox fans are a close second, and soccer goons exist on a separate level.

So after spending most of the day playing around with Windows 7, I've decided I'm gonna join Robert and use it as my primary OS until it expires.
I partitioned my HDD on my main machine to give it about 200GB and I’m downloading the 64 bit version now.
Any of you guys trying out run into any problems yet?

This is my first real crack at a 64 bit system actually. Tried 64 bit XP once but the drive support was pretty bad.
Intel Due Core E8400
Asus P5N-D 750i SLI
Nvidia 9800GTX+
2 GB Ram(gonna upgrade to 4 come payday)
200GB Partition of a 750GB Western Digital HDD
I gotta say, this is quite impressive indeed. Very quick and very very smooth. Startup time was 1 minute and 14 seconds and shutdown time was a blazing 13 seconds. Detected all my drivers and devices right off the bat, didn’t have to install shit. Also detected all the peripherals that I’ve tried on it.
Programs that are confirmed to work:
Firefox 3
Thunderbird
UTorrent
Photoshop CS2
Nero 8
Microsoft Office 2003
AVG 8
Power ISO
VLC
WinRAR
BitPim
PC Wizard 2008
Pidgin
Programs that don’t work:
Zone Alarm Pro
Peer Guardian 2
Daemon Tools
Alcohol 120%
DVD2one
Daemon Tools are being worked on. And DVD2one isn’t a big deal. I’d like to have Alcohol 120 and Peer Guardian working soon though. And Zone Alarm is kinda a big deal. Anybody know of a good 64 bit firewall?
I haven’t tried any games yet, but will tomorrow. And I’m quickly changing my mind about the new taskbar.Overall this is quite an impressive piece of work. Good job Microsoft.

I'm always surprised to see a college tech textbook be really out of date.
This quote from “Windows XP Command Line” is choice.
This clock provides a beat that synchronizes all the activities. The faster the beat, the faster the CPU can execute instructions. This is measured in megahertz(MHz), where one MHz is equal to 1,000,000 beats of the clock per second. This original 8088 CPU had a MHz rating of 4.77 MHz. Today, 500 MHz is the common speed, and speeds are available up to 866 MHz or more. In fact, a 1 GHz CPU is currently in development by the Intel corporation.
Welcome to 2001.

So I just got back from the Thunderbirds game at the new ShoWare arena in Kent
Anybody else made it out there yet? Nice little place, and I caught two great games this weekend. I went on Friday and was treated to a 3-3 tie that ended in a shootout loss after overtime, and then tonight we scored 3 in the first period en route to a 5-2 drubbing of the Prince George Cougars. Plus, since we scored 5 goals, everybody won a free hamburger from Dairy Queen. All in all, it was pretty entertaining. Anybody else have plans on heading out before the season is done?

I was planning on going to both games all week long
And when I was approaching the ticket window a lady came up and gave me a free ticket that she had won in the chuck a puck at the last game (she has season tickets, so no use for freebies). I sat next to her and her partner during the game, and in that game’s chuck a puck she won 2 more free tickets for Sunday, and offered them to me so I could bring somebody with, so I packed my 5 year old son along tonight. She also won 2 more tickets tonight, and asked for my phone number so she could call and give them to me before next Saturday’s game
