9/6 Minor League Wrap-Up

And with not a bang, but a whimper, the Mariners' minor league season has come to a close.

AA PLAYOFFS: NO WITTY CAPTION FOR YOU

Game 3:  Carolina 4, West Tenn 2

Carolina wins series 3-0

Luis Muñoz:  6 IP, 8 H, 4 ER (HR), 3 walks, 6 K, 2 wild pitches, hit batter
Jason Kershner:  no outs recorded, 1 H
Roman Martinez:  2 IP, 2 K
Greg Halman:  3-5, R, K
Jamie McOwen!:  1-4, double, 2 K
rest of DIAMOND JAXX lineup:  4-26, 4 walks, 6 K

You'll notice a dearth a coverage for this series.  As previously stated, the current rendition DIAMOND JAXX were a shell of the team that captured the 1st Half title in the North Division due to callups, injuries and regression... so against a more currently complete Carolina team, this was likely a formality.  And it was.

It's been fun, guys.  Until next year....

Thanks so much for all this work, Gomez.

It’s been a joy to read.

Thanks and a congrats

Great job, and I hope you’re back next year, Gomez.

And congratulations to the Spokane Indians for winning the Northwest League last night. Sort of. Seemed more like the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes beat themselves (esp. blowing an 8-run lead in the penultimate game. Oh, that single-A fielding!). Spokane seems to have a few live arms this year, and given the pitching needs of the parent club, we might well have seen some future Texas Rangers playing against our Frogs this year.

This was Spokane's year

Salem-Keizer wasn’t the unstoppable beast they were last season, and mainly won their division by default. Spokane, however, was clearly the best team in the NWL. Congratulations to them.

Thanks for putting in all the effort this year Gomez.

Much appreciated.

Be open minded about what you don't know.

Not so fast, Gomez

The Arizona Fall League is starting up, and then there will be several winter leagues featuring M’s prospects.

Keep up the good work.

I spaced those last year

mainly because they’re instructional leagues and performances down there often carry little to no meaning since guys are often trying different approaches or learning new things.

We need daily Joe Woerman updates

even on the days he is not pitching.

Today Joe Woerman had a turkey sandwich

and helped his fellow aliens kidnap an unsuspecting couple

I can't wait for tomorrow

Will he finish the turkey, or will he open the package of ham and risk the turkey going bad in the meantime? Will he go see Bangkok Dangerous, or Tropic Thunder again? Will he use Fandango or just risk the sell out? Will he sell the microfiche to the German businessman for the duffle bag of Euros, or to the beautiful Nepalese translator for the suitcase of gold bars?

> LOOK

You are in Surprise, AZ, standing on a baseball mound. Standing approximately 60 feet away are an umpire and a baseball player holding a bat. Crouched in front of the umpire is a catcher, holding his mitt towards you.

> INVENTORY

You are currently holding a BASEBALL.

> THROW STRIKES.

I’m sorry. You’re unable to do this.

I'm laughing

because I’d play it.

And that’s most likely a very sad thing.

There is no such thing as innocence, only degrees of guilt.
