UPDATED x2: Football This Saturday

Some folks in the latest LL Football thread have been calling to play a game this Saturday, the fourth of October, and frankly I think that's a mighty fine idea.

We started doing LL football a year ago, and it would typically involve meeting around midday at Cal Anderson Park in Capitol Hill. All sorts of ability levels were present, and after a few hours of playing we would usually go do a thing that involved food and drink. Getting exercise, kicking it with good people, and having a fine meal in the early evening is a totally decent way of spending one's Saturday. If you live within the greater Seattle area then you really have no reason not to at least try it out. Go ahead and sign up.

PS: A few people (cough Robert) have advocated playing on Sunday. If you absolutely can't do Saturday, let us know if Sunday works instead. I like Saturday more, but maybe Sunday can still work.

EDIT: Saturday appears to be the consensus for the majority of the people interested in playing. How does 12:00 at Cal Anderson sound to everyone?

It would appear that the following people can make it tomorrow: Myself, Brett, John, Matthew, Camomilk, and possibly Bill. Anyone else?

So what you're saying is that if you're playing as a d-back

we should throw towards your assigned receiver all day?

I'm a Quarterback/Possession receiver. And I'm bringing my playbook and showing you guys up.

I’ve played some of my best LL Football games hungover

Sunday would work way much better for me

I never ever get to attend any events because I always have to work on saturdays. I finally stroked sundays off, and this would be a hell of a way to spend one.

I have my daughter on Saturday...

Sunday would work better.

Any idea what the weather is gonna be like?

ps…if we do Sunday, perhaps we should watch the Hawks-Giants game first at a bar on Cap Hill then wander down to Cal Anderson to play.

There's no way I'm making it to a bar in Seattle by 10am

but I’ll definitely show up by 1ish to play.

The paper is saying showers on Saturday, and then more showers Sunday afternoon.

Hello lads

I would endeavor to make it this weekend if we can put something together. I enjoy football, beer and I still owe Johnbai an hour of Seattle parking.

I'm thinking Jillian's for the game?

Unless people have better suggestions.

I'm down

Watching the game with LL people is definitely more fun than watching it at home.

Why not

I’ve done 9am during the Seahawks-Bears playoff game a couple years ago.

This is a great idea.

And Saturdays are good. Sundays are bad. I will have to skip out this weekend (as well as the next) because I have crazzzy work schedules… but after the next two weeks I am all about this.

Also in regards to Jillian’s.. I used to work there. I actually hated that job after a few months, but decent prices and good [greasy bar] food = not a bad place to park on Sundays.

It's sounding like most people can make it on Sunday

Myself, Tootthekazoo, John, Bill, theBishop, Brett (?), Robert if healthy, perhaps Matthew… anyone else? Gomez? We should have at least seven people, but the games seem to get exponentially better the more people we have to play.

Are we shooting for Sunday?

Watching the game at 10 and then playing a game after the Hawk’s game now?

It seems like it

I doubt I’ll make it up to Seattle to watch the game, but I’ll definitely be at Cal Anderson come like 1:00.

I'd prefer Saturday, but I can do either.

I can't play on Sunday... I have a softball double header

I have to be Redmond by 2pm.
I can definitely play on Saturday however.
I thought Robert was the only person who couldn’t do Saturday?

Bill has his daughter

We can try to make Saturday work, though. I’m good with either day.

by katal on Oct 2, 2008 5:32 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

We'd best figure it out fast!!!

Can we get a little roll call of who can be at Cal Anderson around noon on Saturday?

by johnbai on Oct 3, 2008 10:41 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree. Eric: Edit this post and put in a list of who's in. I'll be there.

I have my daughter...

I can hang out tomorrow, and if we get food and drinks later it would have to be an under 21 establishment…due to my daughter

So, I got the promotion I was seeking.

And thus, I will have every other week off from now on. It will be a heavy price to pay, working the over-night shift on the weeks I do work, but in my estimation well worth the ability to plan extensive activities for the first time in years.

I will be working for this particular game, but this drastically opens up my schedule for furture games…I’m excited. Chances of Thanksgiving participation upped drastically.

I will plan on being there Saturday

But I probably will not be able to make it until 1 or 2. There’s a possibility I may be able to convince a friend to go.

by camomilk on Oct 4, 2008 12:22 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

OK, the rest of us should plan to show up around 12 to 12:30

I’m bribing Matthew with a tee shirt so I think he’ll forego the Senators game and make it out.
