The Phillies clinched last night, which enables them to start Kyle Kendrick, who's been the least valuable pitcher in baseball this season, and also to rest all of their regular lineup. However, what that also means is that their game today now longer has any bearing on the playoffs. Which means, if it gets rained out, then MLB has no reason to play it Monday and they'll just cancel the game.

Canceling the game means that's it. No mas. No matter what Seattle does, they cannot pass Washington without a Nationals win.

If you have some sort of anti-rain dance, now would be the time to break it out.

Damn you Manny Acta

The Phillies couldn’t be more helpful if they tried.

My situation:

I just watched my ‘soccer’ team get beat due to poor officiating against a local rival. You all know how frustrating that is.

If the Mariners do not emerge today with the number one draft pick, I think I will punch my mum.

I was at Shea for the Felix-Slam!
Personal M's record: 5-4.

However, what that also means is that their game today now longer has any bearing on the playoffs.

Funny, the Red Sox and Yankees are playing a DH today.

A 1-0 Nats lead through 5 innings

and then a downpour would suit me just fine.

by Matthew on Sep 28, 2008 10:38 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Bullshit

It isn’t cool that the Nationals get to tank their game, while we’ve been getting HRs from Yuni and Kenji all weekend. Here’s hoping Strasburg signs with them and then immediately demands a trade to SD.

by katal on Sep 28, 2008 10:44 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

If the Nats do manage to win

and I’m not saying anything, but there’s ways for the home fans (like say, Seattle), to force a forfeit…

by Matthew on Sep 28, 2008 10:45 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

So that would force a tie?

Which would mean what? Coin toss?

Bring back José Cruz Jr!

Oh, right

I was thinking of the game being cancelled.

By the way, what WOULD happen if the Nats won and the Mariners game was cancelled and there was a tie in the standings?

TBS has the Mets game, and the Brewers are on WGN

That Green kid looks pretty solid. The #2 pick is nothing to sneeze at.

I agree.

How do we know the Nat’s won’t take Green instead?

So who expected Adam Jones to have a better year than he's having?

He’s pretty bang on what I was expecting except with a little less power.

I thought he would be a lot worse.

BA-wise. Production-wise, probably about that same.
