English fail.

Jeff appeared to be annoyed in the last OTFPOTD. What happened?

by BrianL on Sep 25, 2008 3:02 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

The thing

When a post has 900 comments and 700 of them are inside-joke wank between the same four people about something that only makes sense to those four people… it sucks for everyone else who is trying to wade through the threads and read more relevant comments.

I left a few hours ago to drive from Chehalis to home

On days when I am super busy at work

Or I spend most of the day on the road visiting clients I do not even bother with the OT Threads. They are impossible to catch up on. Much like game threads.

I look at this way.

That day seattlebruin and I hstarted the NPE vs PRC thread, it was a lot of fun. Contained within that one fanpost it was a goofy fun thing for a day. When either of us mention it now, it just one or two comments and then back to topics of the day.

The election joke was funny at first, but I think it just kind of became a monster at some point.

Fear the NPE

by thewyrm on Sep 25, 2008 3:16 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

And it would be one thing if it were 2-3 comments and that’s that. But in the cases in question, it’s not 2-3 comments… it’s entire threads that go on and on and then start again and go on and on.

by Gomez on Sep 25, 2008 3:15 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I really don't have a problem with jokes that are started on LL

but when inside jokes between four or five posters outside of LL consume 450+ comments, it gets a little tedious.

memes brought in from outside of LL are just annoying and don’t really fit

Otherwise it makes it look like your are piling on just so you can fit in with the flavor of the day.

I dunno, I think all communities should have them

it’s worked pretty well here – the original goal was to have a place where people could talk about their vices (beer, music, whatever) and not clutter up the actually good baseball content, and they’ve done that. But with so many more people here now it’s threatening to tip into LL Junior High, and that’s not so bueno.

I know nothing about Vancouver restaurants

but Thai’s always a good option.

There aren't any good Thai places in Vancouver.

The best we have is Thai Orchid, and they failed their last health inspection.

Yes yes yes yes yes

script going perfectly

Thai is awesome. Pho is pretty easily in my top five favorite foods of all time.

I've fallen out of the pho habit

because there isn’t great pho in my ‘hood, but it’s an awesome dish.

My mother taught me how to cook it.

It requires a lot of stuff and is kind of difficult, so I only make it once a month.

Tanqueray on the rocks with a line

I thought you were totally hardcore for a second there.

I think I new some used car salesmen at the bar I used to work at that made that their regular “drink” though.

by Thingray on Sep 25, 2008 4:23 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

But I don't like Tanqueray,

and their ads are annoying as hell, so I don’t think that’ll be it.

Could be Mirror Pond, Mac N Jacks, or Snoqualmie Hef. Maybe even Shock Top. Then I just need a few shots to throw in there to celebrate.

That can be taken many ways

I will only assume there is a typo there and say that I concur.

by Gomez on Sep 25, 2008 7:36 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I am boring this way

But my answer is always Mirror Pond. With maybe one shot of whiskey early on.

by Sec 108 on Sep 25, 2008 4:29 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Mirror Pond works.

I tried “Fireball” whiskey on the rocks the other night (someone bought it for me), have you ever had that stuff?

It's whiskey with a hot cinammon flavor to it.

It would be awesome in something on a cold day (or even by itself), but I’m not sure if it’s weird or girly as a normal drink.

Were you just chuggin it from the bottle, or was something else involved?

It was a bottle chugging situation.

Didn’t end well

It pretty much doesn't matter what's in the bottle.

Chugging usually ends badly. But oh my god I can only imagine how bad Fireball would brun coming back up.

I guess I'm signing tomorrow at 8:30am

but since they took so long now I have to go get a wire transfer which costs me $10. Which I don’t even know why I mad at that. But I’m just frustrated, Sick, cranky and need a nap and heads need to roll.

I hate sweet as a general rule

I mostly either sip or shoot whiskey. I rarely mix it. So I would most likely hate that.

by Sec 108 on Sep 25, 2008 4:52 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

It's not sweet like schnapps per se,

but definitely not like any other whiskey I’ve ever had. Especially some of the limited run whiskeys my buddy gets as gifts. Some of those just about blew my ears off.

Yeaaaah, I don't have an official ruling or anything but I'm highly suspicious that stuff can be classed as 'whiskey'

I’m ecumenical – if there’s a green-apple flavored ‘bourbon’ or a Pepsi flavored ‘Gin’ the same applies.

by marc w on Sep 25, 2008 5:05 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think you may be right.

Sort of like Bud LIght shouldn’t be classified as “beer”.

I'm back to liking midgets too much.

by Thingray on Sep 25, 2008 5:06 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'd rather have a Bu Light Lime than a regular Bud Light.

You need something to cover up the taste. Clamato…. Don’t even get me started on how much that makes me want to puke.
