English fail.
Jeff appeared to be annoyed in the last OTFPOTD. What happened?
It was too many inside jokes.
He got tired of it.
I'm back to liking midgets too much.
The thing
When a post has 900 comments and 700 of them are inside-joke wank between the same four people about something that only makes sense to those four people… it sucks for everyone else who is trying to wade through the threads and read more relevant comments.
That's true.
I'm back to liking midgets too much.
I left a few hours ago to drive from Chehalis to home
when I got back I had to clear all of the comments and hope an interesting conversation would be started towards the bottom of the thread.
On days when I am super busy at work
Or I spend most of the day on the road visiting clients I do not even bother with the OT Threads. They are impossible to catch up on. Much like game threads.
That's what I do. Shift + A
I'm back to liking midgets too much.
I look at this way.
That day seattlebruin and I hstarted the NPE vs PRC thread, it was a lot of fun. Contained within that one fanpost it was a goofy fun thing for a day. When either of us mention it now, it just one or two comments and then back to topics of the day.
The election joke was funny at first, but I think it just kind of became a monster at some point.
Fear the NPE
P.S. I'm not ready to let Scrappy's die just yet
since all of the OTFPOTD regulars were in on that one

I really don't have a problem with jokes that are started on LL
but when inside jokes between four or five posters outside of LL consume 450+ comments, it gets a little tedious.
Yes
LL memes are a good thing and are healthy for the community. They’ve worked great for several years
memes brought in from outside of LL are just annoying and don’t really fit

the point is still the same
it started (or took off) ex-LL and should have stayed there.

Don't care
it went on far too long, wherever it started and wherever it went.

The point is, if something bugs you you should say so
and not wait til after the fact to voice your displeasure
Otherwise it makes it look like your are piling on just so you can fit in with the flavor of the day.

I think so too
I’ve never looked so forward to an offseason
Determined, Jonesing Commentor | Proud proprietor of Corcotopia and Washingtonhighways.org
It's been a rough year for all of us I think.
Perhaps we’re all getting a bit testy.
I'm back to liking midgets too much.
I think so for sure
I think a lot of people here (myself included) are about to reach our boiling points.
Like sb said once the offseason comes and we start to care about baseball again, which is really why we all are here, it should get a lot better
Determined, Jonesing Commentor | Proud proprietor of Corcotopia and Washingtonhighways.org
By the time March rolls around, I won't care about wins or losses,
I’ll just want baseball back again.
I'm back to liking midgets too much.
Remember the Dodgers saying "there's always next year?"
Well around March, it’ll be that next year time and I’ll be excited as hell for baseball season to start
by seattlebruin on Sep 25, 2008 3:12 PM PDT up reply actions
By the time the Playoffs start it'll be back to baseball
Even the offseason will be interesting- there’s going to be a lot to write about and a lot for all of us to think about on a BASEBALL level.
Right now we’re just sort of sitting in limbo and the quality of the blog from everything but a front page post standpoint is sinking as a result
Determined, Jonesing Commentor | Proud proprietor of Corcotopia and Washingtonhighways.org
I like to think my posting has improved.
I'm back to liking midgets too much.
I know I haven't helped the last two days and I'm not going to deny that
but I like to think under normal circumstances I’m not a huge part of the problem.
I do have opinions in the way that I think things could be more effectively administered on a moderation level but I’m not getting into that here as they probably aren’t in line with the general consensus
Determined, Jonesing Commentor | Proud proprietor of Corcotopia and Washingtonhighways.org
Yeah, I don't think I'd go there.
I'm back to liking midgets too much.
Yeah kind of
I’ve still been reading this blog since the inception of L43 over 5 years ago, and since the inception of LL 3 years ago. LL has changed a ton in 3 years. And not for the better. I think there are a lot of causes to that problem and I don’t think it is all from the poster level.
Determined, Jonesing Commentor | Proud proprietor of Corcotopia and Washingtonhighways.org
I haven't been here since L43, so I don't really know.
I'm back to liking midgets too much.
I started lurking midway through 2007.
Started reading USSM a few months earlier, read Moneyball about three weeks before that.
I also started with USSM.
I still read it every day but rarely post there. Dave kinda scares me.
Fear the NPE
Just to nip this confessional in the bud
let’s not go down the road of “Blog X is good/bad” or “Blog Author X is good/bad”. That never ends well.
Nice Guys Finish Third - Hopelessly lost, but makin' good time.
Wasn't my intention at all.
Dave is great, I just can’t talk baseball at the level that he can. Mostly I just sat back and took it all in trying to learn something.
I'm back to liking midgets too much.
It wasn't Dave so much as how the commenting system at USSM worked
that frightened me. The way the system worked was weird, but it’s nicer now.
Just to continue pdb's work
this is a discussion of LL, not of USSM policy
by seattlebruin on Sep 25, 2008 3:30 PM PDT up reply actions
I think I'll just bail on this subthread now.
I'm back to liking midgets too much.
I meant that in general, we should be discussing how to make LL better here
and air our grievances, not discuss the commenting system or author styles of USSM.
That’s a perfectly valid discussion (and the reason I don’t post there but read every day), but one for another day

Determined, Jonesing Commentor | Proud proprietor of Corcotopia and Washingtonhighways.org
I dunno, I think all communities should have them
it’s worked pretty well here – the original goal was to have a place where people could talk about their vices (beer, music, whatever) and not clutter up the actually good baseball content, and they’ve done that. But with so many more people here now it’s threatening to tip into LL Junior High, and that’s not so bueno.
Nice Guys Finish Third - Hopelessly lost, but makin' good time.

You know, I think I'm actually OK with that as long as we're keeping it to one stupid post a day

(I do have to work tomorrow)

Tanqueray on the rocks with a line

I thought you were totally hardcore for a second there.
I think I new some used car salesmen at the bar I used to work at that made that their regular “drink” though.
I'm back to liking midgets too much.
But I don't like Tanqueray,
and their ads are annoying as hell, so I don’t think that’ll be it.
Could be Mirror Pond, Mac N Jacks, or Snoqualmie Hef. Maybe even Shock Top. Then I just need a few shots to throw in there to celebrate.
I'm back to liking midgets too much.
Mirror Pond works.
I tried “Fireball” whiskey on the rocks the other night (someone bought it for me), have you ever had that stuff?
I'm back to liking midgets too much.
It's whiskey with a hot cinammon flavor to it.
It would be awesome in something on a cold day (or even by itself), but I’m not sure if it’s weird or girly as a normal drink.

Don't throw it up

Do you know this from experience?
Because from what I had the other day, I sure wouldn’t want that coming through in reverse.

Yes

I'm sorry man.
Were you just chuggin it from the bottle, or was something else involved?
I'm back to liking midgets too much.
It was a bottle chugging situation.
Didn’t end well

It pretty much doesn't matter what's in the bottle.
Chugging usually ends badly. But oh my god I can only imagine how bad Fireball would brun coming back up.

I wish
I could of punched them in the face and they wouldn’t of remembered it

Maybe you should buy them a drink?
I'm back to liking midgets too much.
I guess I'm signing tomorrow at 8:30am
but since they took so long now I have to go get a wire transfer which costs me $10. Which I don’t even know why I mad at that. But I’m just frustrated, Sick, cranky and need a nap and heads need to roll.

It's just inconvenient.
I understand the frustration. Nice thing is it will all be done and over with soon.

Its terrible

It's really damn sweet, I'll tell you that.
I'm back to liking midgets too much.
I hate sweet as a general rule
I mostly either sip or shoot whiskey. I rarely mix it. So I would most likely hate that.
It's not sweet like schnapps per se,
but definitely not like any other whiskey I’ve ever had. Especially some of the limited run whiskeys my buddy gets as gifts. Some of those just about blew my ears off.

Yeaaaah, I don't have an official ruling or anything but I'm highly suspicious that stuff can be classed as 'whiskey'
I’m ecumenical – if there’s a green-apple flavored ‘bourbon’ or a Pepsi flavored ‘Gin’ the same applies.
I think you may be right.
Sort of like Bud LIght shouldn’t be classified as “beer”.
I'm back to liking midgets too much.
I'd rather have a Bu Light Lime than a regular Bud Light.
You need something to cover up the taste. Clamato…. Don’t even get me started on how much that makes me want to puke.

Quite possibly my new favorite beer

I had never heard of smuttynose, so I bought a six pack of their Old Brown Dog Ale just out of curiosity
Excellent brew
