Ryan Rowland-Smith blogs about his team recipe for 2009

RRS just posted a fantastic new blog where he gives some very frank criticism of what went wrong this year and details what he thinks are some keys for the team in 2009 (including bringing back Ibanez & develop more clubhouse leadership):

RRS has been one of the few the highlights for the team in this second half...too bad they cannot score any runs for him (he has only 2 wins in 11 starts, despite leaving the game wth the M's leading or tied 9 times and giving up 3 runs or less 8 times)!

That is quite awesome.

While outlining what RRS likes to see next year we get some insight into what’s been going on in the clubhouse without sensationalizing it.

Great read.

My two favorite parts:
  • “I just hope (we kids) all get our chances next year, and there is some trust in our abilities– not just getting our feet wet, I mean letting us pitch through a jam to show that we can get through it. Or, not getting pinch hit late in the game.” – I’m glad that Ryan is as annoyed as we all are.
  • “If we has 25 guys who backed each other it would make a world of difference.” – This quote interests me. If one assumes that all the kids generally get along, that Ichiro is Ichiro and keeps to himself, and that Raul and Beltre are relatively popular (considering RRS’s kind words about them), then that only leaves a handful of other players that Hyphen can possibly be referring to as cancers.

Can RRS please call out Silva

If Silva is actually saying this stuff. People have pretty much assumed Silva.

Now with 100% more Canuck.

Don't know how

I’m using the newest Firefox for mac

Even if I didn’t clear my cache, the link shouldn’t redirect me to prolebrity home

I wonder if he even knows...

I think someone else (like a prolebrity person) took it down cuz the time on my page is 5:16pm and he would (I am thinking) have already been at the ballpark by then…I didnt even see it til about 4ish…

Wow, talk about censorship.

How lame that it was taken down. What he said was significantly less inflammatory than Baker’s piece…although I guess Baker isn’t a member of the team; maybe the Ms PR didn’t want what RRS was saying to come from within the team. Whatever, Ms suck.

It IS Geoff Baker...

but today’s Seattle Times has article about pitching future; mostly about Ryan Rowland-Smith and has parts of that blog post in it.

Ryan's blog is updated today

He explains that he was the one who took down the entry shortly after reading the Times article.

He also chimes in on Ichiro.

But I will take a moment to address the disturbing article because I do think its important to make this clear from a player’s point of view:

Ichiro is very very respected in the clubhouse, yes as a player but most of all as a teammate. He is a class act, a true professional, and has so much respect for the game of baseball. Any player who gives you 200 hits every year, who is never on the DL , and who plays amazing defense is hardly selfish. And any teammate of a guy like that who has a problem needs to seriously step back and look at what they’re saying. I just can’t picture any one of my teammates feeling what was said in that article, and it is a real shame that the public has a reason to feel negative about a player like that . A guy who could never ever be replaced on any team.

Also when you’re losing 100 games and fans still want to come to Safeco to watch us play, chances are its to watch a ONE OF A KIND like Ich.
