LL Football?

Well, the weather got all shitty... so I guess it's time for the LL folks to consider an offseason of touch football games down at Cal Anderson park. I know the Seahawks accidentally got into the Mariners' vitamin pills have started kicking ass the way they are supposed to. So let's build on their momentum with our own tales of glory.

Remember last year, and that time that Matthew juked everyone out of their shorts and scampered for a 80 yrd touchdown. (Oh wait, that happened like every 3rd play.) But remember the tragic glory of Gomez nose-breaking touchdown catch... Or his rib-cracking touchdown catch... oh wait... Gomez gets injured on like every 3rd touchdown he scores. OK, OK, but remember that time that Bretticus threw an interception... oh wait... that happens on like...

;)

Anyone have some times and dates they want to throw out?

Late addition: Looks like there could be a game as soon as this Saturday... look at the comment below to reply!

Will do

Although I’m moving to Cap Hill/Central District next weekend.

Cal Anderson is fine, but I like the Seattle U soccer field on 14th and Cherry too – very good condition…

One thing to note about SU

While the field appears to be free this next weekend, SU’s soccer teams’ seasons are in progress and they will have matches scheduled at the field, and possibly even practices. Here is the full schedule for all SU sports. Any reference to Championship Field is the SU field we use.

hehe,

speak for yourself! You go from US to Denmark, Denmark back to US, US to Japan (with possibility of going to Korea for a while)!

I've been meaning to put a post like this up

Right on, John.

Either Cal Anderson or SU works for me.

How about playing on Saturdays this year, though? Next Sunday would be fine since it’s a Hawks off-day, but I didn’t care for how much football I was missing on television last year by, you know, going outside and being active. Besides, playing on Saturday means that one can sit back & relax on Sunday with the excuse that he is recovering.

Touch?

What about tackle?

by Smegmalicious on Sep 21, 2008 11:44 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

As much as I like playing tackle football

last time I got a slight concussion after being taken down hard during a run.

Needless to say, I now see the merits of touch football.

But I probably wont make it anyway, because…retail sucks.

Probably even moreso in Japan

I’d be a giant there, and I’m like 6-0

Ha some people are scared...

but most people treat me like a visiting dignitary.

Today after practice there were a bunch of random people watching, and when I was leaving some people wanted photos. So me and the other Americans posed for some photos, and then people just started handing me babies. The babies were bawling and stuff, but the Japanese people loved it. It was really weird, I didn’t know how to react. But it was the first time I’ve ever felt like the Pope.

Wide discrepancy in athletic talent

I would fold Gomez in half :)

You may gain some yards on the ground, but eventually Lofa will end up biting you in the ass.

I agree with katal that we should play on Saturdays.

But I’m going to be in regardless.

Saturdays work better for me

I already play flag football on Sunday nights.

I'm hearing a lot of call for a Saturday game...

which works well for me, since I’m playing fall league softball right now anyway.

Who would be up for a mellow, “ease back into it” kind of game this coming Saturday (the 27th)? I know Brett is out, but what about everyone else?

by johnbai on Sep 24, 2008 12:35 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I hope somebody

prints this out and brings it to the game to show you that you actually asked for a “mellow, ease-back-into-it game.” Because I don’t know if that’s possible for you! haha

Hey! >:(

I’m an extremely mellow fucking person! What are you talking about!!??!

I already have plans for this Saturday

so barring any unforeseen changes, I’d have to make it next time.

I'm in

Moving on the 30th, so this weekend is fine

Matthew, you first suggested Saturday... are you in?

And how about Camomilk? Omerta? Scruffy? Smegalicious? Gomez?

by johnbai on Sep 24, 2008 2:53 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I would love to

But I’m moving this weekend and next. After that I should be good to make it to a couple of these.

I can't play this weekend due to the Decibel Festival

Blame my girlfriend, she knows like half the guys playing. Still should be some great shows.

Well, since it's just Baker, Robert and me so far for this weekend...

Why don’t we shoot for Thanksgiving Weekend… maybe that Saturday?
Then we can try to get enough for 4×4 or even more.

Reply here if you can do that… if we get a few positive responses, we can create a new diary post and advertise a specific time, date and location.

by johnbai on Sep 25, 2008 11:59 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hell yes, I'm in

I should be able to get a friend or two to come again

by ningwers on Sep 25, 2008 12:40 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Good

you can cover Matthew.

by johnbai on Sep 25, 2008 12:54 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Son of a bitch...

I’d better get my ass back in shape

by ningwers on Sep 25, 2008 2:17 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Thanksgiving would be tough for me as things currently stand.

But I just interviewed today for a position which I would have every other week off, and if I counted right, I would have Thanksgiving off. If that’s the case, there’s a chance I could get a bunch of people to come down from Hippyville (Bellingham) to participate as well.

So, I guess I’ll update my status as we move closer.

by Omerta on Sep 26, 2008 11:56 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

So are we gonna play today (Saturday, 27th)?

I know it’s short notice and all, but who’s in?

by wwbaker3 on Sep 27, 2008 12:35 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I assumed not

I hope nobody showed up and felt disappointed. Only a couple people said they could, so I figured we’d shoot for a date in a few weeks… then play again on Thanksgiving Day weekend.

I'm down for a noon to four football scrimmage this Saturday

But I’ve promised myself that I won’t throw out my arm this year!

Should we start a new diary, or wait until we get at least 4-5 people confirmed here first?
