"Adrian Beltre" surgery

From Baker's blog: http://blog.seattletimes.nwsource.com/mariners/2008/09/11/beltres_dilemma.html

Call me sissy, but when I read this piece I must admit to getting a little lump in my throat. The M's disastrous season is coming to an end and everyone - including us - are merely running out the clock and hoping for nothing more than a <100 loss season and the odd highlight such as that provided by Morrow last Friday night. King Awesome has been offered an easy way out that comes with the added benefit of allowing him to be better prepared for to play for his country and to start '09 in tip-top shape. Rather than take an early bath, he decides to stay to the end out of respect for his team-mates. This struck me as being quite an unselfish act.

Pure, unmistakable, incontrovertible, class.
