Morrow's Tacoma Start
From my source in Tacoma, here's Morrow's line from today's early 11:30am start.
He reached his pitch count of 35 after going:
1.2IP 1H (double) 0R 0BB 1K
Hopefully next time he can be a little more economical with his pitches, but when a guy doesn't give up any runs (and no walks), you can't complain too much.
Not bad for a first outing. Let's hope he can get to 4 innings next time.

Anyone know what his progression is going to look like?
35 pitches, then 60-70, then like 80 then let just let him go?

I doubt he'll be allowed to throw more than 100 pitches this season.

Does anyone know how many pitches on average he was throwing before being demoted to the bullpen?
i.e. back in the minors and prior

And he was never demoted to the bullpen either.

35 pitches in 1.2 innings?
He’s already as efficient as Meche.

Great.
About 3 1/2 innings per start at this rate. Give the guy a break though, it’s his first start since being sent down.

My source tells me..
He threw 21 strikes.. and got 3 groundouts and 1 flyout. Basebliman, is your source just the MILB scoreboard, or do you actually know someone in Tacoma? Would be nice to know what he was throwing and at what speeds

Mariners reporter you may have heard on the pregame show
I don’t want to just plaster his name on the site, but he does reporting for the radio station that currently broadcasts the Mariners (but won’t next year).

To delve further into it...
he said his command was a little off, so he was throwing mostly fastballs. He doesn’t have a gun, so he didn’t get any velocity readings.

Does anyone know the plan for his next start?
Are they going to wait for the full rest or start him a day or two early because he’s used to being a reliever?

It wouldn't make any sense unless they did the former.

It has to be full rest. That's part of the adjustment to starting.

Better than Silva and Tits already!
I have eight watches. None of them are fake.

Cheap suck is still suck.
He should stay down there until Sept.

I'm fine with him being shut down after the Rainiers season is over.

I'd like to see him make a few starts against MLB hitters personally.
Gives you more of a read on how he’s progressing.

The more starts he gets at the majors
the better the idea you’ll have on his ability. Remember most of the good players in AAA have been promoted, so you are going to get a good gauge on his effectiveness against sub-par talent. Once he’s capable of going 75+ pitches you’re better served bringing him up to see how effective he is against major league hitters.. the more games the better idea rather then dealing with just the small Sept sample size… ie: Bloomquist and Reed (Remember their Septembers?)

It's not so much the pitch count per se...
...it’s the management of games: being able to see a lineup three times, pacing and using his secondary pitches.
If he does all that well in AAA, then go to the majors.

I looked at this picture and immediately thought “Buhner?!”
I need to get to know Tacoma more.
