8/6: Open Game Thread

Minnesota Twins @ Seattle Mariners

W-L G GS CG SHO SV BS IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP

This being a weekday matinee means that I won't be able to watch, which makes me 2-2 in missing Washburn starts since the deadline. And that's good, because while he may still be a Seattle Mariner, if I don't see him, he doesn't exist.

This is going to be hilarious. Way to help out Jarrod stupids.

Not as impressive as 10, but they were forced to stop.

Imperial-metric conversion screwup

At least he hit a homer

Same as it's always been

For some god damned stupid reason this team stubbornly refuses to move Raul to DH even if it means holding back prospect development for a guy who will not be here next year (most likely) and can’t play defense.

If it can’t be Felix, at least we can see Dickey.

Finally, some recognition.

by NOLAmarinergirl on Aug 6, 2008 1:43 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

What's his deal?

In his last eight starts, he’s gone: 5, 5, 5, 6, 7, 5, 4.2, and 4.1 innings. I know that’s always kind of been his M.O., but it seemed earlier this year as if he he had gotten over that hump. You notice anything?

by Teej on Aug 6, 2008 1:50 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

He's throwing less sliders this year and even more of his fastball.

For whatever reason he’s suddenly became a flyball pitcher too.

by R.J. Anderson on Aug 6, 2008 1:52 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think the injury has thrown him way off

He just hasn’t been able to get the right grip for his slider consistently. He had one game where he threw it extremely well (against Oakland), but that’s pretty much it. He’s not throwing it because he’s not confident in his ability to get it down ATM.

Knowing Garza

He’ll throw a CG shutout against you. He’s crazy inconsistent.

The one glaring matchup in the M’s favor is Sonny versus Felix. You guys should win that one, but ya never know. The Rays nearly lost a Kazmir/Sowers matchup today.

The tale of the FiddleCat is a long and ultimately rewarding story....

He was born into poverty in post-World War I Fiddletown. Wrecked by mortar shells in the first battle of the Marne, Fiddletown was bereft of economy and most importantly, happyness. FiddleCat was a bright child, always looking at instruments through the local town’s music stores. It wasn’t until his parents sent him to boarding school in Vienna that he first heard American folk music. From then on, FiddleCat knew his destiny. He saved all spring working odd-jobs with SeizureMouse to buy a fiddle to play in the streets to bring back the happiness to Fiddletown. Once that fiddle was in his hands, nobody was stopping him. He even impressed the local talent scout who would eventually send him on his first American tour.

Thus, the FiddleCat is born, highlighting celebrations of happiness throughout modern American history.

it was dumb to sign Schmidt considering age, but he had pitched 150+ innings every year since 1997 except one.

Juan Pierre hasn’t collapsed. His triples have dropped off a lot killing what little slugging he had. His other rate stats seem normal.
