8/6: Open Game Thread
Minnesota @ Seattle
This being a weekday matinee means that I won't be able to watch, which makes me 2-2 in missing Washburn starts since the deadline. And that's good, because while he may still be a Seattle Mariner, if I don't see him, he doesn't exist.

Unfortunately, I don't think it works that way.
Finally, some recognition.

Same as it's always been
For some god damned stupid reason this team stubbornly refuses to move Raul to DH even if it means holding back prospect development for a guy who will not be here next year (most likely) and can’t play defense.

What's his deal?
In his last eight starts, he’s gone: 5, 5, 5, 6, 7, 5, 4.2, and 4.1 innings. I know that’s always kind of been his M.O., but it seemed earlier this year as if he he had gotten over that hump. You notice anything?

He's throwing less sliders this year and even more of his fastball.
For whatever reason he’s suddenly became a flyball pitcher too.

He's throwing his fastball around 75% of the time.
That development saddens me.

I think the injury has thrown him way off
He just hasn’t been able to get the right grip for his slider consistently. He had one game where he threw it extremely well (against Oakland), but that’s pretty much it. He’s not throwing it because he’s not confident in his ability to get it down ATM.

Knowing Garza
He’ll throw a CG shutout against you. He’s crazy inconsistent.
The one glaring matchup in the M’s favor is Sonny versus Felix. You guys should win that one, but ya never know. The Rays nearly lost a Kazmir/Sowers matchup today.

Knuckleballers are the Rays’ bain. And Felix is just awesome.
A four game split would be ideal.

Wlad is the CF.. and Reed the DH..
How silly, just so Raul can play LF
