Now I have a song stuck in my head.

I'll shut up lest you ban me like you banned butthol.

I was living in Memphis when they were the local band trying to hit it big.

I remember driving in my car one day back up in Alaska and hearing them on the radio. I was like Holy shit Saliva! I was actually proud of them.

Only good line in this movie:

“Why don’t you just get a Japanese girlfriend like all the other white guys?”

Redmond hitting third?

If only our lineup wasn’t more hilarious.

Great.

Yuni’s bat is starting to “heat up.” Now we’ll never dump him.

and I love how announcers quote

.299, 12, and 75

Like they need no introduction and it means something

He'd be worse at SS.

But I don’t think he hits enough to play third, not at his defensive level.

I'm back to liking midgets too much.

Well, so much for that.

Riggleman is letting the young lefties throw a lot of pitches.

I don’t know if 100 pitches is some made up magical pitch limit, but RRS was up around 110-115 his last two starts and Feier just went to 114.

Jesus, Raul.

I don't feel anything anymore.

Remember when Sean Green was good?

And they didn’t bring him in to face good left handed batters?

by seattlebruin on Aug 27, 2008 3:39 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

And it's not like lefties kill him

Morneau was 1-3 with a single against him before today. Just an off day.
Really, really off.

by marc w on Aug 27, 2008 3:45 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

He's seemed to have an off month

everytime he comes in now he either gives up a run or two or gets in trouble for someone else to bail him out of.

It may be, but I agree.

Looking at the bright side of losses is one thing, but actively rooting for losses is another.

by Thingray on Aug 27, 2008 3:53 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Rooting for losses now = rooting for wins later

So you’re really not rooting for losses at all, you’re rooting for meaningful wins in the future instead of pointless (actually harmful) ones now.

by OlSalty on Aug 27, 2008 3:59 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

It is another. I happen to think it better. I see far more benefit in losing games this season than winning.

So I root for losses. I don’t expect everyone to agree with me, but I try to avoid chastising those that don’t or somehow insinuating that they are less of a fan than I am. We all want the same thing.

by Matthew on Aug 27, 2008 3:59 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Huh? Gomez is arguably the best CF in baseball, whereas Span is a RF.

Did Gomez just boot a ball or something? Satire would be easier to detect if I wasn’t ‘watching’ this game by refreshing the box score every once in a while.

I know I shouldn't be the one pointing this out

but with this loss the Ms are mathematically eliminated. Strasburg is the prize now.

I was holding out hope for a 1995 like comeback too

Huzzah, I can collect my 50 bucks from a coworker.

Wait I spoke too soon.

Their E# for the division is now zero. At the start of today, their E# for the wild card was 4. Which means it’s 3 now, and will drop to 2 if the Red Sox win.

I still get 50 bucks.

The bet was weather or not the Mariners would win the division.

I think it did.

Because there’s more than one team ahead of us, the math gets pretty ugly.

I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.

So Arizona just got swept by the Padres. Awesome.

And yet despite that, they have lost no ground and are still 3 games up because the Dodgers just lost their 6th in a row.
