Go Felix!

Show those White Sox what a mediocre team with one good pitcher can do!

Please don't suck, Felix...

After just hearing that the people planning on buying our house are backing out of the deal, I really don’t need any more bad news…

No kidding.

And only juuuust after my wife and I finally agreed on something — the next one to buy.

Sorry to hear that, Paul

but I guess you’re not going to get your wish. GS52 just went on the DL with shoulder stiffness. Hopefully that’s all teh bad news. I hope the day gets better for you now, and tomorrow even better.

by kva15 on Aug 19, 2008 4:44 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah, these things do come in threes...

…so I’ll count a less-than-stellar game from Felix as the third, then.

Fortunately the GS52 injury is only bursitis. They were fearing the worst…

Glad it's not serious

George could probably use a rest. Not like it will make a difference to the Oriole’s playoff chances. Might just make sure they appreciate him.

I’ve been through the real estate hassles recently and I feel for you. We had similar issues as yours and we held out for better offers — and they came (quickly). Hang in there.

Via Rotoworld:
Pitching coach Dave Duncan said Sunday that Chris Carpenter (shoulder) could rejoin the rotation as soon as August 26.
It sounds like Carpenter’s status will determine what the Cardinals do with Adam Wainwright, who could come back as a reliever if he’s not needed as much in the rotation. Carpenter is scheduled to throw off flat ground Tuesday.

by JI on Aug 19, 2008 4:16 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

And I'm not annoyed with Carpenter

I’m annoyed at the notion that we need a “proven closer” more than we need to replace Joel.

by JI on Aug 19, 2008 4:21 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I'd be annoyed with that as well

LaRussa needs to get some sense. Any number of relievers can get 3 outs in the 9th with a 1-3 run lead.

by Gomez on Aug 19, 2008 4:33 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

LaRussa is a good manager

but this is by far his biggest weakness.

Perez/McClelan/SPringer can hold down the fort fine. If you need to use a veteran use Springer.

Second time Clement has been benched following a good game.

Can we let this guy stay in the lineup when he’s swinging the bat well?

Jamie Burke is a cool guy and all, but why is he ever in the lineup given the status of this team, and his age?

cause our starters suck so much. Thats also why he is catching Felix, lower risk that we might need him today.

How about M’s player development? I’m just not liking where Felix is at, I was hoping his upward trend would be more… like an ascension.

Rotoworld quip of the day:
Aaron Harang’s Thursday start has been pushed back due to neck spasms.
He woke up with neck stiffness Tuesday morning. “He couldn’t turn his head,” Reds pitching coach Dick Pole said. We’d make a juvenile joke here, but we’d be fired. Instead of facing the Cubs, Harang will now face the Rockies on Friday. Josh Fogg will be moved up to face the Cubs on Thursday.
