Sexson Waived By Yankees
"In a move designed to boost the Yankees
' sagging offense, the team today will demote Melky Cabrera
to the minors, waive Richie Sexson, and promote Brett Gardner and Cody Ransom from Triple-A, The Post has learned.
Sexson was brought in with the idea of giving the Yankees a better attack against lefty pitching. But the dramatic holes in the first baseman's swing made him too easy an out.
Sexson had 28 at-bats as a Yankee, hitting .250 with one homer. He did hit .273 in 22 at-bats vs. lefties. But with Nady and Ivan Rodriguez now here, the Yankees must feel they have more righty options and wanted the roster flexibility and decided to subtract Sexson."
Huh. Does anyone else give him a shot this year?
He hit 250/.371/.393 overall for the Yankees and .273/.393/.455 vs. lefties.

"Does anyone else give him a shot this year?"
I thought the odds of anyone giving him a shot in the first place were pretty low.

I see Richie is now taking the Bret Boone path to career doom
He’s just one fight with a bartender and a failed ST with somebody else away from retirement.
Watch the Clark/Multnomah County police blotters in the next few weeks.

Isn't Melky one of the future best 50 players in baseball according to Neyer? haha
I fucking hate you Mariners
Brought in to hit lefties, OPS'd .848 against them, gets cut.
What?

A blog-thingy about the Mariners and stuff.
That doesn't make sense. They hired him to do a job, and he did it. And they're paying him the minimum. Why cut him?

He's generally worthless
They picked up Nady who can play 1st, they don’t need him.

Article makes it clear
they wanted roster flexibility… they had better options.
They also knew he had no future with the organization.
Good news for Sexy is that he did do his job… so there might be another team willing to take him on.
Actually its a little funny
He’d probably be our best 1B option right now.

This was inevitable.
Getting picked up in the first place was a gift…he woulda had to have a breakout miracle bat to really expect to stay on the Yankees.
