Erik Bedard's been shut down through the All Star Break, by the way. I can't think of another player in baseball who's more in need of a couple weeks' rest.

He doesn’t have much of a choice. Johjima is hitting just as bad as Vidro, and Burke is a backup-backup catcher. Of course they could put Raul at DH, and Willie as the everyday LF, but…...

(And it doesn’t, there are guys in AAA now who could probably hit a little better than him and they’re actually going to be around next year. It would better serve our interests to see if they have what it takes to hit in the majors than to let an old guy who’s finished as a ballplayer take up a roster spot.)

A US serviceman has the watch outside Da Nang in 1968 about a month before the Tet Offensive. He is keeping an eye on an enemy position some twenty miles distant. Man I wish I went to your school.

For highschool we had to climb up a 30 foot ladder, walk across a pole, and then jump off (with harness on us).
Also had to swim for 5 minutes straight with all our clothes on (in case we drowned or something like that).
