I don't know about you, but I'm really bummed out about missing the Dontrelle experience.

Griffey? Really?

I reject your reality and substitute my own!

He's basically Cal Ripken at this point.

Sure, he’s not one of the top 3 outfielders in the NL and he may be the worst player in baseball. However, people want to see HOFers and Griffey is basically the only guy who has reached 600 hrs out of the recent trio that never had any steroid/corked bat related issues. If you’re going for the best players, he shouldn’t be there. If you’re going for the biggest stars and fan favorites, you can’t leave him out.

Corrections:

CF:Ichiro

Doesn’t say who the NL DH would be.

Kevin Youkilis

If that’s not proof that the All Star Game voting is retarded, I don’t know what is.

by Gomez on Jul 5, 2008 7:41 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Youkilis has been the best 1B in the AL, aside from possibly Giambi

But Youkilis has played a lot more games at first, while Giambi has DH’d 15 times.

Does anyone know why Yuni bunted to end the last inning?
Did Lopez or Beltre dare him to?

The only thing I remember from the M's spring training broadcasts

is that Dane Sardinha’s brother (who was in the M’s system) has a middle name that’s 17-letters long. Niehaus barely even tried to pronounce it. I’m not sure if Dave’s lack of effort is really “Hall of Fame” material.

The Tigers outfielders all have cool names

“Clete Thomas” “Curtis Granderson” “Marcus Thames”
I can’t remember what any of them look like, but they sound like cool guys.

So the Dodgers are looking for a shortstop.

And apparently parting with Kemp, Ethier, or Loney is on the table.

This would be a prime opportunity to trade Yuni. I would love to see Loney or Kemp come over. With Furcal’s injury (likely season ending), he is going to be a free agent and we could pick him up for a 1-year deal like we did Jose Guillen.

Loney would be a great pickup if I had the choice. Fills the hole at 1B for cheap and he is a lefty developing his power.

by Wilder. on Jul 5, 2008 10:50 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I'd take any of the above, seems like Loney would be out of reach for Yuni, even as high as his perceived value might be

even Andre Ethier would be a good fit for us I think – he can play whatever corner is vacant come next season decently and is a left-handed bat to boot.

by seattlebruin on Jul 5, 2008 10:52 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Or if we got either Kemp or Ethier,

we could package Ibanez with Yuni. This gets them their SS and keeps their OF together the rest of the season.

by Wilder. on Jul 5, 2008 11:01 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

If Ibanez has value elsewhere, I'd rather try to exploit that

as some of the mods have said, Yuni, for whatever reason, still has a lot of value to the right people.

by seattlebruin on Jul 5, 2008 11:02 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Hopefully not...

I really like Ethier’s game, and it’s not like the Dodgers are hurting for impact bats – they just got Andruw Jones back!

by seattlebruin on Jul 5, 2008 11:05 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah, I like Kemp a lot too, but it seems to me that the Dodgers value him more than Ethier

and I’m not sure Yuni would fetch him straight up. Plus he’s right handed, which is kinda a knock since he’d be playing half his games at Safeco

by seattlebruin on Jul 5, 2008 11:10 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

The Dodgers have definitely down played Ethier.

Although, I think Torre has changed that this season. Maybe with Andruw Jones’s return, things will revert back to Ethier riding the pine.

I sure would love to get Loney the most. Like I said, he is the kind of player we need to fill in at 1B. Cheap, left handed, solid hitter, etc. Maybe the Dodgers would take a Yuni/Sexson package. This allows them their long-term gap filled at SS and Sexson is an expiring contract.

I wonder how these kind of deals work between teams? I could think of a dozen different packages, but the other team just doesn’t see my bias value.

by Wilder. on Jul 5, 2008 11:17 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I don't think anyone wants Sexson, even if the M's agree to pay everything that's left on his contract

Perhaps Yuni and a AAAA player, like Ryan Feierabend or whatever. Someone we won’t really miss, like say a Korean righty with decent stuff and limited upside.
