I was excited this morning

When Steve Kelly went off on Yuni for swinging at all but one of his pitches in yesterday’s game.

Mark Lowe looks more Australian than RRS

this must be a point of divisiveness in the clubhouse.

RRS looks pretty Australian, though.

You have to hand it to him.

I had an eggplant salad for lunch today with a can of Coke. It wasn’t the best lunch, but it sufficed. After lunch I’ll be calculating the distances of various routes I can take home, I can hardly wait.

Suburbs of Chicago are boring, but pleasant enough I suppose. My GF hails from the NW burbs

Living in the city (specifically Wicker Park or Ukrainian Village) is much more exciting.

by esoteric on Jul 21, 2008 8:49 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Ah, that clarifies things.

In that case, you’ll be alright. If you’re not familiar with Chicago, it’s pretty much the most kickass city in America. It’s got the best architecture/skyline of any city, and all the ethnic/musical/food/music variety of NYC at half the price.

I've only driven through it once. Seemed nice.

But to above, if I’m working up north, does it make sense to live in the city or to live near work and commute when I feel like going to the city?

by Matthew on Jul 21, 2008 8:53 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I'm not sure how far north Glenview is.

But when I lived there last fall, it took forever to get up to Evanston by train, or T or whatever they call it. There’s always construction going on, though I suppose it should be done sometime there. There was also a budget crisis every few months where they’d threaten to cut off routes, but get saved during the 11th hour by something.

by LantermanC on Jul 21, 2008 8:55 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Depends on what your job is and what you want out of life.

If you’re working the sorts of hours I will be as a lawyer, you’d want to live as close to work as possible until family considerations make that impossible. On the other hand, if you have more leisurely hours, it can be worth it to live in the city. That’s where ALL the real action is. If you like going out at all, you want to be in the city.

Thanks. Exactly the sort of info I was looking for.

I won’t be taking the job if it requires lawyer-hours.
