Pitching through pain
So not to continue preaching to the choir, but it just so happens that Jeff channeled Ozzie Guillen or maybe it was the other way around. But apparently Ozzie is "disappointed" in Jose Contreras for attempting to pitch through pain and not telling anybody. Here is Ozzie's money quote:
When you're hurt, you're not helping the ballclub. I don't want any of my players to go out with pain and try to be a hero. I was -– I don't want to say upset -– a little disappointed when one of my players is hiding stuff for no reason.
Sounds a little bit like something I just read a few minutes ago. It's ridiculous that players try to get away with this crap. Guillen also says that Contreras won't come off of the DL just because he is eligible, he has to prove he is ready. Sounds like advice that the Mariners could use with Bedard.
Here is the link to South Side Sox where I found the story. They do a pretty good job over there.

Baseball would be less fun if everyone was smart
kind of like life.

Ow, my balls.
Be careful how far down that road we go.
I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.

We’re already there.

Pain is relative.
I’m sure Beltre’s thumb hurts all the time, but he’s hitting well enough and it hurts little enough that he’s going to keep playing.
Personally, I’m not even sure how much pain Silva is in. I don’t doubt that he is in pain of some sort, but it’s easy to blame that when you have a bad outing as well.
They should just make a policy that all pain more than minor discomforts be reported to the trainer, and the trainer will then make the judgment call of whether or not to sit you down for a few days. Though of course, some people would just avoid the trainer I guess…

Ozzie Guillen is the voice of reason.
Repeat that to yourself.

Pitching through pain demonstrates a warrior mentality
Which frankly, we need more of on this club.
If we really want to see Felix or Morrow take the next step, then they needs to model themselves after men like Beluga and Silva.

YEah! I don't no if u saw it,
but this guy for the red sox pitched a game when his foot was hella bleeding.
Totally didn’t care, he’s all, Ima bout to make YOU bleed, fuckers. And he won, because he had so much fight in him. Too much passion and fight, no room for any pansy shit. THAT’S baseball.
I bet that dude is kickin MUCH ass now too, but I haven’t really checked.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one
If by some odd happenings in the universe he became available to be the Ms manager, I would take it in a heartbeat

Man, I could only imagine
the high comedy of Ozzie managing a team overseen by Howie and Chuck. Talk about a clash of styles.

I think the best part
Would be zen-Ichiro and in-your-face Ozzie squaring off. Comedy ensues…
