Second Annual Stone Sour Fest

SUNDAY, JULY 20th 11am-9pm

The human palate is capable of detecting four basic tastes, but during a typical beer tasting only two of those (well, three if you count the pretzels) are experienced: bitter, sweet, and salty. At the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens we feel it's high time we included the fourth flavor domain, SOUR, in the equation. Join us for hours of sours as we celebrate this great, and often unexplored, tradition of tart and tasty ales. We're currently tracking down as many sour beers as we can put on tap and keep in bottles for the special day. The event will kick off when we open at 11am and will continue all day long at our outdoor bar. A $30 Sour Pass will get you 10 taster tickets (some of the rarer sour beers will require two tickets) along with a commemorative glass. Buy your Sour Pass on Sunday at the outside bar.

I won't be watching you, Carlos. Do your worst.

Edwin, you dirty bastard.

With that, I, too, am off to partake in some sour brew.

I've always liked Ray Durham

Maybe partially the fact that he could pwn in All Star Baseball 2004 for my expansion team.

Is Clement at 1st?

I missed the lineup call.

fuck this

RRS to AAA? While Vidro and Cairo are still on this team? BRB cutting self

They're not smart enough to do that

They’re probably worried about wrecking his confidence or something, I dunno, they think stupidly.

The only way this makes any sense is if they’re stretching him out, if they were just freeing up a spot they’d send Jimenez or Corcoran or Rhodes down before they would Hyphen.

by OlSalty on Jul 20, 2008 1:29 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think they're worried about taxing the bullpen while he stretches out.

It makes a bit of sense, you need those mop-up guys on Washburn/Silva/Tits starts.

*drop a match

For fuck’s sake I’ve made that same category of error three times today in different places.

And now I failed at using reply.

Okay, I’m done. Before I even started.

Per Jon Heyman
Seattle’s year just got a little worse, and interim GM Lee Pelekouda’s task just got a little tougher. It was reported in Seattle-area papers that pitcher Erik Bedard probably won’t pitch again until after the July 31 trade deadline. So apparently, the Mariners are stuck with Bedard for now.

Oh no, we’re stuck with a great pitcher

HAHA Fuck You Silva

Really?

“The three-run home run literally chased Silva out of the game.” Literally?? This I’d like to see…

Much like Batman

I took the weekend long penalty boxing to make Jeff look like a legit authority figure.

I'm pretty sure I'm not bluffing

We’re sick of boxing being treated like a joke.

And we’re sick of fucking LOLcatbaiting.

When has the box been not a joke?

I agree that mod baiting was funny at one point, but some people visit the site with a bit less frequency so it’d only be fair to warn them.

Silva left with a stiff back?

I hope he’s out for awhile so RRS can come back and be in the rotation.

I will withhold "gross" for now,

but I’m just saying . . . should it taste like the bottom of a barbecue pit like your recommendation, Ms. Teej will drink it.

I've told the story of my whirlwind romance with Schlenkerla once before.

Suffice to say, Laphroaig+Schlenkerla as a nightcap does not turn out well.

by acblue on Jul 21, 2008 12:32 AM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think I might have worked up the gumption to give it another go.

I think I’ll start with Stone and work my way back if the gag reflex doesn’t kick in.

by acblue on Jul 21, 2008 12:34 AM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I used to love it so much.

I think with the Laphroaig removed from the equation (and the memories of that fateful night fading) I’m ready to get back on the Rauchbeir train.

by acblue on Jul 21, 2008 12:37 AM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I asked for it at the bar on Friday.

“ROUSH-BEER!” I said.

“You mean Rockport?”

“Probably not.”

by Teej on Jul 21, 2008 12:58 AM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I felt that she needed to be cut off.

But she was hot, so whatever.

I pointed to the beer I wanted. It was the only one in the cooler where there was a beer missing, because Jeff had bought the previous one. “The one that has no English words on it.”

by Teej on Jul 21, 2008 1:04 AM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I find myself pointing at beers a lot.

I know a far amount about beer, but my pronunciation is beyond subpar.

by acblue on Jul 21, 2008 1:05 AM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I wouldn't recommend it

We agreed that it would be like plowing through a few bags of Sour Patch Kids.

Did you try New Belgium Eric's Ale?

My girlfriend was going to order it until the bartender described it as “drinking a Jolly Rancher” but I was intrigued. I went with the Duchess de Bourgone instead.

by acblue on Jul 21, 2008 12:21 AM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

It was on the roster.

I was done with anything resembling sour after two or three.

by Teej on Jul 21, 2008 12:23 AM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I didn't try it because I'm not real big on New Belgium

but honestly, after the first few, all the sour and tartness just started to blend together. I’ve had a kriek in the fridge for a few days now, and I don’t think I’ll be touching it for months.
