A flat out terrific news day
Asid from the obligatory headline about the Sonics heading out to barren, dusty pastures next season, there are some other fabulous news items.
- News outlets have now disclosed that prized international teen prospect Michel Inoa has signed with our division rival, the Oakland A's, for $4.25 million. This is kinda old news to some, but in case you didn't know, there it is.
- From the Captain Obvious dept. of features, Yahoo's Steve Henson passes out midseason report cards, and you can probably guess which team is at the top with an A+, and which team is at the bottom with an F... but go look anyway just to make sure.
- And as if we needed more reason not to like Joe Buck, he a) voluntarily appeared on Colin Cowherd's radio show and b) admitted that he not only doesn't watch much sports in general, but admits that he really doesn't like baseball.
You know how some things restore your faith in humanity? Seeing all those stories blocked into a single news feature box on Yahoo pretty much gave me the exact opposite of that. Well played, Yahoo.

For one thing, he has the worst call ever for maybe the most awesome play ever.
Just listen to his call of Eli Manning’s amazing escape and circus throw, which led to them beating the Patriots in the Superbowl.
[monotone voice] “Eli manning drops back… he throws it… caught by Tyree…”
I find it annoying that someone as monotone and lifeless as him is calling playoff games
Now I find it doubly annoying that he doesn’t give a shit.
When St. Louis won the World Series,
you would never have guessed Joe Buck grew up a Cardinal fan and is only a announcer because of his dad. No excitement whatsoever in his voice.
Um....
Hmm, I hear something new every day.

Inoa could be the real deal.
Comparisons to Felix are part of the standard writeup.
Oh, I agree he's likely the real deal
I figured such comparisons went without saying, as we’ve discussed him at length before. He’s something special.
I’m gonna hate the M’s having to face him every year.
Remember he's only 16.
A lot can happen between now and then.
AKA "BRO-RAY" according to drunk Graham...
God Yahoo is retarded
Their front page analysis of Inoa:
“Teen shifts MLB power”
“The signing of a 16-year-old, 6’ 7” phenom should worry the Yankees and Red Sox.”
Maybe they mean the fact that the A's (of all teams) were willing to pay him 4+ million.
