Ibanez takes pride in his defense

Headline taken from the Mariners' website:

Ibanez takes pride in defense
Here is are some highlight quotes:

He has a .285 career batting average, 171 home runs and 743 RBIs.

But there is another part of his game that goes mostly under the radar -- his defense.

"I take great pride in my defense," said Ibanez prior to Saturday's game against the Indians. "There are two sides to this game, and defense, to me, is a huge responsibility. Not only are you responsible for your job on the field for the team, but also for the guys on the mound. They depend on you. They need you to do your job."

Ramirez replaced Ortiz as Boston’s DH on Sunday and Monday. He said he relishes the role.

“I love DH,” Ramirez told the Boston Herald. “I’m pretty sure they’re not going to miss my Gold Glove out there [in left]. We’re fine. We’re going to be fine.”

Being honest is good.

I don’t understand how Raul can turn a blind eye to his defense. Just man up, admit you’re not good at reading balls, running in the right direction, or throwing balls, and ask to be DHed soonish.
Someone send him all the gifs, I’d love to see his reaction while watching it.

Hey, if you were as good at defense as Raul, you'd take pride in it too!

Look at all the links we have in “Raul Ibanez is REALLY GOOD at defense!”

Well...

Vidro has said that he enjoys playing defense as well. Just cause you enjoy doing it doesn’t mean you do it well…

The assist numbers are a pretty weak hook. I wonder if there’s a way to get Jim Street to write articles like this about the rest of us. I’d pay for one for my girlfriend that says “Damon takes pride in his thoughtfulness, willingness to clean up around the house.” I did do some sweeping today.
