The greatest night ever
So on Tuesday I got to go hold the flag for the opening ceremony and the national anthem for the All-Star game. The place where we lined up with the flag and my positioning in particular was right next to all of the legends who took the field that night, and I got to mingle with most of them and then go on the field with them which was pretty much like... well I can't really say that without invoking GTE.
Anyway:
By position, from left to right:
PITCHERS: Steve Carlton, Dennis Eckersley, Bob Feller, Rollie Fingers, Bob Gibson, Ferguson Jenkins, Juan Marichal, Phil Niekro, Jim Palmer, Gaylord Perry, Robin Roberts, Bruce Sutter, Don Sutton, Goose Gossage, Whitey Ford (Ben Sheets and Cliff Lee behind them)
FIRST BASEMEN: Lance Berkman, Orlando Cepeda, Harmon Killebrew, Eddie Murray, Tony Perez, Willie McCovey, Kevin Youkilis
SECOND BASEMEN: Chase Utley, Rod Carew, Bill Mazeroski, Ryne Sandburg, Dustin Pedroia
THIRD BASEMEN: Chipper Jones, Brooks Robinson, Mike Schmidt, George Brett, Wade Boggs, Alex Rodriguez
SHORTSTOPS: Hanley Ramirez, Luis Aparicio, Ozzie Smith, Robin Yount, Ernie Banks, Cal Ripken Jr., Derek Jeter
DESIGNATED HITTERS: Albert Pujols, Paul Molitor, Milton Bradley
CENTER FIELDERS: Kosuke Fukudome, Willie Mays, John Hamilton
RIGHT FIELDERS: Matt Holliday, Tony Gwynn, Al Kaline, Frank Robinson, Dave Winfield, Hank Arron, Reggie Jackson, Ichiro! Suzuki
CATCHERS (in front of home plate): Geovany Soto, Gary Carter, Yogi Berra, Joe Mauer
MANAGERS (behind home plate): Clint Hurdle, Earl Weaver, Tommy Lasorda, Dick Williams, Lee MacPhail, Terry Francona ============= I also got a bunch of pictures up close when they were right with us but I won't take up your bandwidth with them. Other notable highlights: -Talking to GS52 and telling him to come back to Seattle -One of my buddies and I making our way from our outfield bleacher seats to sit in the very first row behind 1B/dugout alternating -One of the guys picked to go with us not knowing what a DH is and thinking that its 6 balls for a walk since that's what he remembered from Little League, essentially proving that life is in no way fair -Getting random baseball signatures on my service cap plus LL Cool J who just happened to be walking by... why not? -Catching a Josh Hamilton BP homerun -Staying the whole 15 innings, getting back at 3:45 AM and waking up at 4:30 for the day Basically I don't think this night could be topped in any way, unless Felix has a repeat of his Santana game replacing a no-hitter with his ankle injury fuckyoubeltran.

Hm the bullet point format didn't seem to work out in that last but there
And yes I know I accidentally put John Hamilton instead of Josh.

Congrats, Fett
I suppose that was marginally better than my night.
Unbelievable
Congrats, that’s truly awesome.
Side note, WTF is Milton Bradley doing there as a DH but no Edgar?
Free Stephen Awesome Strasburg!
Well Bradley was voted in
Its only HOF players and the current lineups
