Did anyone go to the BioDome?
I found this article on Uniwatch on ESPN.com very intersting. I was in college in Oklahoma at the time, so I didn't even realize that this had occured. I do remember the abortion that was the MLB campaign though.
Looking back at the Mariners' futuristic night
The stuff about Griffey made me laugh out loud. How did I not see any of this at the time?? The picture of Buhner is priceless as well.

Unlike everyone else's uniforms
I thought our futuristic jerseys were kind of cool.
But brick red and silver?
WTF?

These were the cool ones
the ones a few years later were way not. But these were still not cool. They were just less scary.

Right.
I just remember at the time they really played up Griffey’s involvement, like he’d actually designed them. I guess his role was still fairly significant, but he just had input.
What mystifies me is that the same basic scheme was used for all of the uniforms – much larger logos. Were people in 2027 all going to be horribly nearsighted? Why would EVERY team go for something so garish?
I never really liked the M’s ones. As a purist, I just couldn’t get excited about the M’s wearing red. It seemed so…angels to me (we’re Red! No, blue and yellow! Check that, Red and white! Oh, and call us ‘Anaheim.’ Never mind, let’s go back to Los Angeles. And blue. Nope, strike the blue. Red, definitely red. And ‘Los Angeles of Anaheim.’ Thanks).
In the future, everything's made of brick, people are all horribly nearsighted, and vehicle fatalities are way up.

Look back at any 'futuristic' perceptions
Everything is brash and bold with crazy lines.
It’s as if, at some point around the year 2000 th concept of imagination was wiped out.
And look, crazy jazzy designs like that don’t actually happen do they? Do they?

I was at that game...
and over the years I ended up with one of the salmon-pink uniforms that they wore on the road the next year in Minnesota.

I was there
I think my dad still has one of the hats they gave away. Didn’t realize Griffey went around spray painting shoes and gloves though, that’s awesome.
Aaaaaaooooooooo! I am the weasel!

Oh, wrong Biodome.
Thankfully...
my Rangers didn’t participate in this.
