Sexson Released
I'm signed up for Mariners text alerts (So I get the nightly reminder of the M's losing in text also), and I just got a text saying that Sexson has been released.
It's about time this happened. I was pretty excited in the offseason before 05 when we picked up Beltre and Sexson, looks like that didn't really work out too well.
Here's to Vidro, Cairo, etc. getting the boot hopefully ASAP!

I had that ready to go to.
Although the Mariners have not yet made an official announcement, Sexson was not in the clubhouse this morning prior to the 12:35 p.m. start of Seattle’s game against the Oakland Athletics at McAfee Coliseum, and his locker had been cleared out.

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Ah, you were a nice guy Richie. Best of luck in your future endeavors.

I kind of feel sorry for him.
He just fell off the cliff, and then got booed by his hometown fans. I wish him well wherever he goes, or in whatever he decides to do.

From a baseball perspective I'm glad he's gone.
Hope things work out well for him.

Gee that didn't come out right, let's try again.
Strictly speaking baseball, finally. I’m glad he’s gone. However, he seemed to be a really nice guy. I hope he takes some time off to spend with his family and can keep himself happy.

My thoughts exactly.

And I also hope he rolls around in his large piles of cash that the Mariners will continue to deliver to his doorstep
we’ll miss you, Richie. Now the only one I have left to heckle is Jarrod Washburn, and his results haven’t even been all that bad lately.
I wonder what other skills he has…

Tuglett and Wells called up
according to Baker. Bedard to DL.

Which one gets sent back down when Felix is activated?
by BrianL on Jul 10, 2008 11:02 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
I'd guess Wells.
Since Tuglett will be replacing Richie.

That is not nearly as cool of a replacement as Olerud got.

John Olerud tried to dissuade Boone from flipping his bat
the fact that Boone did not stop is not Olerud’s fault.

Yes, but did John Olerud die for your sins?
I think not.

He tried once
but it didn’t work, and then he had to wear a batting helmet all the time just in case I sinned again.

they need to release Vidro ASAP. This is a nice start though.

Wow, this team is grit-tastic!

Thing is, though...
Tuglett isn’t a terrible hitter. He’s got some power—OPS’ing ~.825 in the pitcher-friendly PCL. A .462 SLG isn’t terrible, neither is his .362 OBP, especially considering position.

Yeah, not to discount Tug
I’m excited to see him play with the M’s – moreso than Cairo or Willie. Just wondering how on earth the other two are going to continue getting slotted into games as anything other than a pinch runner or defensive replacement, since that’s their value-add and how we almost never see them used.

He can get on base for sure
And can play much of the infield. The PCL does inflate his value as a hitter.

He does have some legit power though.

BIG RICHIE
After months of sucking and riding the pine
Richie has reach the end of the line.
Richie: So long, losers!
Pelekoudas: Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
Richie’s phone: [rings]
Richie: hello
Sabean: Hi, Richie, this is the GM of the San Francisco Giants. I’m calling to express interest.
Richie: Alright!
Sabean: ... in telling you how much you SUCK. HAHAHAHA [click]

Haha
In the Hickey article, Hickey says the team has placed Bedard on the 50-day DL. Maybe I missed something, but isn’t there only a 15-day and 60-day DL?
Unless I’m wrong, Hickey is a giant douche for covering the M’s and not knowing this.

Hickey is by far the second-worst beat writer covering the M's.
The worst being Street.
