You know what, screw you Jon Heyman

SI.com's most excellent baseball writer Jon Heyman, here, lists the most likely players to be dealt.  Bedard, Beltre and Ibanez make his list.  Bedard at 2-1 odds, Beltre at 5-1, and Ibanez at 8-1.

But, that's not why I'm posting this.

He continues, after listing the players he sees as possible trade pieces to discuss the All-Star voting, and how it's such a travesty that Varitek got voted in over Pierzynski.  Whether you believe this is true or not; I do, what's really the travesty is where he goes here.

"And oh yes, Ichiro (.302), who plays hard only occasionally, shouldn't be allowed anywhere near Yankee Stadium. That one was the fault of the fans."

Screw you Jon Heyman.  Screw you anyone who thinks that putting up the sorts of ridiculous numbers with any such consistency that Ichiro has demonstrated isn't enough.  Screw you anyone who thinks that you have to look like you're playing hard to actually be playing hard.

The 2008 Mariners made me this way.

I get upset when they don’t have the cereal I want for free at work.

I am upset when that cute girl at work doesn't conform to my demands

She says I suck at bowling...

Why would I talk to her when the only thing she knows about me is a lie?

The ASG voting is a joke.

What he says about Ichiro is lame, but he is right Ichiro shouldn’t be starting in the ASG. The same case can be made for 5-6 other players, just on the AL roster.

I think Ichiro and Fukudome can be blamed on the Japanese voting. They allowed voting in Japan a few years ago and it should come as no surprise when star Japanese players get voted in every year, regardless of performance.

YAY! for Ichiro, though.

Wait, what?

All-Star voting isn’t a rigorous, scientific process, designed to reveal the 30 best players in MLB? I’m shocked, SHOCKED that such an important thing is subject to the whims of an uneducated electorate.

Who cares?

It’s supposed to be an exhibition games. This whole “It counts” thing needs to be done away with. Let the fans choose who the fuck they want to see .

Baseball is supposed to be entertainment, after all

and I’m entertained by the all-star game. That’s all I want. If that means a team of washed-up oldsters gets to play, so be it.

Let the fans see who they want to see?

Okay, with the largest fanbases located in NY, LA, Chicago, and Boston, you are going to see every ASG with NY, LA, Chicago, and Boston players.

Who cares? How about the fans of the other 23 MLB teams? We are fortunate to have Ichiro getting the support from Japan.

easy there, killer. It's just an exhibition.

That’s the way democracy works. If you don’t agree, don’t watch. It’s clearly what a lot of the fans want to see.

ASG voting is fine as it is.

It’s the fact that the game has any impact on the World Series that’s a joke.
