Bill, make sure you don't spend that $100K!

You’re gonna need it to pay Silva when he wins WS MVP.

(Really? WS MVP? Huh???)

by seattlebruin on Jun 4, 2008 12:37 PM PDT reply actions

A better contract would be 4yr/1million

plus a $100 million bonus for Cy Young. I mean really what is the point of putting an incentive in like that. Does SIlva really think it could happen? Did the M’s really think it could happen? I don’t know which is worse.

dont the Angels suck against Silva?

if so we may just win this game

Royals rock

Mariners suck

On 3 hours sleep.

Amd I stayed up for Silva, not Felix like I assumed. :|

by Slica on Jun 4, 2008 12:39 PM PDT reply actions

When somebody asks "do you know what happens when you assume?"

the proper response is the dictionary definition, which usually makes people shut up.

by Jeff Sullivan on Jun 4, 2008 1:16 PM PDT up reply actions

assume:

to take for granted or without proof; suppose; postulate; posit: to assume that everyone wants peace.

by JI on Jun 4, 2008 1:18 PM PDT up reply actions

The funny thing is that by trying to set up the joke

The person stating :do you know what happens when you assume?” is assuming you will respond in a certain manner.

Threw them a curveball

For some reason, it's the 'suite on road' thing that kills me

Imagine being Felix, making less than $1m, watching Silva retreat to some gigantic suite at the Four Seasons after a 1 IP 5ER nightmare start.

by marc w on Jun 4, 2008 12:42 PM PDT reply actions

I'm amused by his Gold Glove bonus

almost as much as I am by Lopez’s “performance” bonuses

$0.125M annually in physical performance bonuses: $25,000 for passing each of 4 in-season physical tests (body-fat percentage, 60-yard sprint, 20-yard shuttle run & vertical jump), plus $25,000 for passing 4 in 1 year

by seattlebruin on Jun 4, 2008 12:46 PM PDT up reply actions

i had the same initial reaction

for some reason i could deal with the money, but the suite?

"Professional Hitter"

The rest of the MLB must be laughing their asses off at the Mariners now.

by Fin on Jun 4, 2008 12:55 PM PDT up reply actions

Seriously.

I know the organization is already a laughingstock, but it just gets worse every day. How incredibly embarrassing.

by Teej on Jun 4, 2008 1:00 PM PDT up reply actions

I really wish someone had insider access to Mariners personnel

And bitch slap them and tell them how fucking retarded they are for numerous things, but first and foremost thinking Miguel Cairo is an adequate 1st baseman and Vidro is an adequate DH.

Willie Bloomquist
  1. $0.2M in performance bonuses for 2007
    • $25,000 each for 275, 325, 375 & 425 Plate Appearances
    • $50,000 each for 475 & 525 PAs
  1. $0.225M in performance bonuses for 2008
    • $75,000 each for 450, 500 & 550 PAs
  1. award bonuses: $0.15M for MVP, $0.1M for WS MVP, $50,000 each for LCS MVP, Silver Slugger, Gold Glove, All Star ($25,000 for AS selection)

The last group is the best.
