Thank god
Now I only feel partially stupid
Accidental Mariner - P3 W1 L2 (.333)
Sponsor of Jamie Burke's baseball-reference page
Unless you're pointing out on a larger level that you cannot build success solely on pitching.
Then I understand. Because otherwise, what confuses me is:
-Oakland has an ace.
-Baltimore’s rotation sucks.
-Minnesota’s is pretty poor as well.
-Arizona’s pitching staff is one of the best in the league.
-Ours isn’t bad.
-The Mets never had anyone but Santana.
But it strikes me now that you were probably making a team-wide point rather than a pitching staff-wide point, so I’m unconfused now.
He's definitely making the point of the former.
And it appears Jeff does not view Harden as an “ace”—I’d agree, following the conventional definition.
I'm just referring to the offseason Bedard/Haren/Santana trades

Because I'm so fast that I've already moved well past this winter in terms of frame of reference, and so these trades appear to me to be from the distant past.
If I appear a little blurry to you, it’s not your eyesight, it’s just me moving faster than you relativistically.
Does Jeff's head still run Lookout Landing in the year 3000?

My comment was a direct challenge to LFoJL, btw

It should be cerebus Jeff heads running the site though
Jeff in the middle, Surprised-Jeff on one side and Cat-Jeff on the other. Perhaps Clown-Jeff can be in there too if LFoJL is going for an hour long penalty box session.

That thread gave us the "Trix are for Kids" photoshop.
I expect to see it in the LL HoF soon.
This was an excellent way to waste the last few minutes of work.
Well done, y’all. Kudos to your April selves.

Remember that "Bullshit, I haven't touched a girl in months" boxquote you used to smite Robert?
He just shopped it to smite you.
You're not very good at keeping it a secret.
As a young boy, I dreamed of being a baseball.

We should make an apology jpeg for him
Preferably of the anthropomorphic variety.
We should change the tagline of the site to LL - We Miss Coach Owens

They’d be like 5-240 this season combined

you can't really pin it entirely to the trades
but all those teams sure disappointed a lot of beat writers this season.

In blackjack, they’re worth either one or eleven
by Last Fan Of Jose Lopez on Jun 30, 2008 3:14 PM PDT reply actions
Or in hold'em, they're worth a win 77% of the time against a random hand
by seattlebruin on Jun 30, 2008 3:16 PM PDT up reply actions
Well the post is "the value of aces"
which must mean pocket aces, right?
by seattlebruin on Jun 30, 2008 4:03 PM PDT up reply actions
I always thought it was closer to 81.8 or something, but a Google search said 77%, and who am I to dispute Google?
I’ll put some more effort into this later
by seattlebruin on Jun 30, 2008 4:06 PM PDT up reply actions
Haren wasn't supposed to be the Ace, just the #2, but oddly he's been pretty much every bit as good as Webb.
