I'm hanging up the cletes

For a while while I sort my life out. I've recently became addicted to heroin since betting for the Rays used to be my way of not getting addicted, but with this new found cash and refusal to bet for the Failiners, I have hit the tar pretty hard.

So no fiddle cat or crazy gifs from Sylar until the Mariners have a game that coincides with my shotting up schedule. I'll let you know what that is soon.

I only have one question...

Is this really allowable? I mean, I know that it’s mostly implied what he’s doing, but… I mean… he is still doing it… not gonna allow the 2girls1cake thing but this is kosher? I just wanna know what kind of stuff I can get away with before Jeff drops a hammer. I mean, I noticed that the f-word was suddenly being used in the game thread today…

Just, keep me updated on the naughty and nice stuff. I don’t want to allasudden post a thing that I think is okay only to be jacked from LL for busting a rule. I already got bitched out once for the f-word use.

By the by… seen gifs like this a few hundred times over the years and never really understood the appeal. Anything for shock humor I guess.

It's really not

I’m not trying to be the morality police or anything but the recent trend towards all things furry is really…unneccessary, and this (not furry-related but still, uh, questionable) is really kinda over the line.

There must be something about furries that I'm missing because I find the concept of people in animal suits hilarious

I, however, do not approve of this .gif. It was okay when it was Sylar because then it only came up in a certain situation, but it’s shown up a few times now from other people, and…

Picture posting is a privilege, not a right.

I think you're missing the creepy sexual angle

I don’t really get offended by it, I find it as amusingly pointless as I find Trekkies or any costume-based fetish, but like any meme, it’s in danger of teetering towards overuse ‘round here at this point.

No

Nirvana isn’t cool again yet. Wait a few years

by spittle8 on Jun 3, 2008 9:45 PM PDT up reply actions

Debatable.

I don’t admit to loving them for obvious reasons. I don’t think anyone who is from Seattle, white, and reasonably well off or educated should cop to enjoying Nirvana, much less quote their fucking lyrics.

It should not be. Soundgarden is still cool though.

Nirvana and Pearl Jam, most overrated bands ever

http://seattlesportsmaniac.blogspot.com

by LantermanC on Jun 3, 2008 10:00 PM PDT up reply actions

Fuck that opinion

Pearl Jam is one of the best bands out of the 90s.

by Fin on Jun 3, 2008 10:45 PM PDT up reply actions

I just don't understand why people don't like Pearl Jam's later stuff

I realize the later albums aren’t as great as Ten, but they still make some good stuff. Also, Eddie Vedder has made some great solo stuff, check out the Into the Wild soundtrack, its amazingness is only rivaled by the movie itself.

by Fin on Jun 4, 2008 12:26 AM PDT up reply actions

Because they're not that good

I love the idea of Pearl Jam – I dig Vedder’s politics, and they seem like decent people mostly because they hate Ticketmaster – but the actuality of Pearl Jam is just kinda meh.

Nice Guys Finish Third - Hopelessly lost, but makin' good time.

Eddie Vedder

sounds like a pregnant waterbuffalo. I cannot stand his voice.

But I agree that their politics are great.

by johnbai on Jun 4, 2008 12:28 PM PDT up reply actions

Which is another reason why I prefer the current versions of the old songs

He became an incredible singer after the band stepped out of the public eye.

by JI on Jun 4, 2008 12:31 PM PDT up reply actions

Vedder's voice doesn't bug me that much.

The fact that ‘the yarl’ is now popular because of Vedder’s voice bugs me a lot.

IMO their later albums are better, but their early stuff sounds better on stage.

It may be hard to understand unless you are a fan, but Ten doesn’t really sound like Pearl Jam. Matt Cameron make everything he drums on turn to gold.

by JI on Jun 4, 2008 9:04 AM PDT up reply actions

Not a huge Pearl Jam fan, but Vedder is a cool dude.

He covers Dead Moon and takes C -Average on tour with him, which is pretty awesome..

Don't like late Weezer either

so we can be “three guys who agree that the Fastbacks are the most awesome band ever” and evaluate others on a case-by-case basis.

Just off the top of my head

And no one likes late Weezer.

I once missed a party in Olympia with a Who cover band playing.

Found out later it was Vedder and the C-Average guys. Vedder grew giant Daltrey hair for the show. It was apparently pretty epic.

A lot of musicians I knew disliked Nivana because of their

simple chords/progressions, lack of mega solos, etc. I happen to find passion and soul more important than the technical aptitude. That’s why Nirvana and Bob Marley & The Wailers are my favorite artists.

by Jed MC on Jun 4, 2008 10:13 AM PDT up reply actions

The entire point of their genius was the simplicity.

Pretty much every song Cobain ever wrote was him saying, “yeah, there’s three chords, I still bet you can’t write a song this awesome” and he was right. Nirvana reminded people that songwriting was way more important than guitar pyrotechnics.
