It really sucks when your team only has one pitcher you actually want to watch.
I like midgets more than I should.
Same here. I was referring to the five "main" starters though.
Hopefully he’ll fit that description soon. Although he’ll have to pitch like yesterday instead of the two starts before that.
I like midgets more than I should.
I was disappointed when I saw him start against the Marlins a week ago
He couldn’t even do four innings and already had 90 something pitches. Hopefully we will see more of good Dickey to come.

Cuz I can think of a lot pitchers I want to see burn.
against Vegas reliever Casey Hoorelbeke, whose ancestors clearly couldn't spell Hurlbeck properly.
I can get myself hyped up for a Dickey start.

Could be 36.
I lose track occasionally.
I like midgets more than I should.
So according to Zumsteg, the following candidates are being considered for the GM post
Paul DePodesta
Chris Antonetti
David Forst
Kim Ng
(No doubt there are other candidates in the mix as well)
My list would go like this:
Antonetti
Forst
Ng/Podesta
I like midgets more than I should.
That is good
considering these are the sort of new school baseball execs we are look for.
Jl/Robert '08: Promise for a CoachCage tomorrow!
So are we already trying to compare ourselves to the Red Sox
Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. Lee Pelekoudas also is in the running for the job.
Jl/Robert '08: Promise for a CoachCage tomorrow!
Sounds good to me.
Given that list I would expect that they’re making a serious run at candidates that know how to evaluate talent and has knowledge of new school statistics.
But if they're letting Lincoln be involved in the hiring process for the new GM
Doesn’t that suggest he will be around after said GM is hired? It doesn’t seem like ownership would let Lincoln/Armstrong make these decisions if they were planning to axe them and change the organizational philosophy that permeates their decision-making.
Maybe I’m mistaken, but I take it as a bad sign that they’re really on the way out.
Putting together a list of candidates doesn't mean much.
It’s hugely unlikely they’ll be able to do anything until the offseason with these people who are working for another team.
We all know what's going to happen
Kevin Malone is going to come out of nowhere to land the job. (No, not the dude from the Office).

Indeed.
It’s a “ing” sound.
Also commonly written as Eng in english (and pronounced just like that first syllable)
No.
Kim Ng (Chinese: 伍佩琴; pinyin: Wǔ Pèiqín; born November 17, 1968; Ng is pronounced as a velar nasal) is an American baseball executive for the Major League Baseball Los Angeles Dodgers organization.

Linguistics class memories come flooding back
The velar nasal is a type of consonantal sound, used in some spoken languages. The symbol in the International Phonetic Alphabet that represents this sound is ŋ, and the equivalent X-SAMPA symbol is N.

N is always an ending consonant in Japanese
IIRC. Its been a few years.

Is there a good reason Mets fans are upset with Reyes?
Or are they just picking on the best players like people do about Ichiro? And I know Ichiro is better than Reyes and Reyes isn’t the Mets best or second best player.
Blaming their best players
Reyes is having one of the best hitting years of his career and is on pace for ~60 steals as usual. Unless his defense has been utterly craptacular (Which I’m not sure about) they don’t really have a good reason to pick on him.
Who are the Mets best or second best player then?
David Wright?
Johan Santana?

The demo came out last week
but the retail release is almost 3 weeks from now.
The poster formerly known as Matt.
Too much bloom lighting in the demo
makes those evening type games really annoying to play. The new animations for WR/RB are kinda cool but QB animations still suck.
The new time out thing is a bit better than the old one, it actually seems to do something.
Still wish the game had the old Pump up the crowd from the later PS2 versions.
Aside from that not much to really say.
The poster formerly known as Matt.
Death to bloom lighting.
And console exclusivity.
I noticed that the running motion looks way awkward and robotic
The older games really had the figures during running down.
Eh?
Mario running has been a constant complaint of sports games since they went to 3D.
Also to Brian, the more work I do on video game ports the more I understand why some companies choose to be exclusive. Its less of a headache and your results can be that much better.
The poster formerly known as Matt.
My hatred of console exclusivity comes from fanboys.
God I hate fanboys so very much, Sony fanboys being the worst offenders.
Fanboys are uncontrolable
and these days I pay them no mind. A good game is a good game regardless of whether it runs on my cellphone or my PS3.
Really learning the ins and outs of one piece of hardware can produce something a lot more rewarding than a generalized piece of software.
Of course multi plat exists because we’d all go hungry if it didn’t.
The poster formerly known as Matt.
I really wish there were some more decent games for my PS3.
Hopefully my copy of Folklore shows ups oon.
You mean you like the new running?
I’m talking about as recently as NCAA 05, that’s the running motion I like.
I'm relatively oblivious to animations in sports games
unless they’re spectacularly bad.
The poster formerly known as Matt.
I've only played the demo twice
once with Mascots and once without. And the only copy of NCAA I have around to compare with is 2003 on the GCN.
The poster formerly known as Matt.

For 2004 mardi gras I was a venetian courtier. Costume was my $2000 three piece suit, black shirt, black tie. Cane and a porcelain mask with elongated nose.
It's the second biggest party of the yea, and you are mocked if your costume is not up to snuff.

Matthew's theory on art:
If I could have done it, it’s not impressive.
I was at SAM last free Thursday and one of the modern art pieces was a white canvas with a diagonal black line from corner to corner. That’s it.
I could shit that out in 2 minutes.

2. Mathematics. a continuous extent of length, straight or curved, without breadth or thickness; the trace of a moving point.

I know exactly which piece you're talking about.
Every time one of my friends bring up modern art, I use that piece as an example of why the entire style is overrated.
No, the entire style isn't overrated.
Like every form of art from painting to music, 99% of what is produced sucks. The problem with modern stuff is that we don’t have the filter of time to weed out all the suck yet.
by Smegmalicious on Jun 25, 2008 5:30 PM PDT up reply actions
This is probably true.
Hopefully in 50 years when they have “art from the early aughts” exhibits, all of the above stuff has been trashed.
Exactly, but it'll probably take more than 50 years.
Just imagine how many crappy paintings there were back in the day.
Art has to move on since photography and such takes care of portraits and reproductions.

I went to the Centre de Pompidou in Paris.
It is the modern art gallery there. I stared at a black canvas for a long time totally making fun of it in front of everyone. I was like Oh, now this is the Ultimate painting! Then I looked at the title and I shit you not, translated into English it was titled “the Ultimate Painting.” That was awesome.
On my honeymoon we visited the Australian Museum of Modern Art
while we were in Sydney. Why? Uh, because it was right there. Anyway, there were two works that we still chuckle about to this day:
- A row of mayonnaise-type jars on a mantle, each one with a wadded-up kleenex inside
- A whole wall with Ping-Pong balls suspended on strings of various lengths.
Definitely. Not. Art.

They should do this commercial with Raul in left
but make it a routine play that normal LF’s could field. Then have the ballgirl give Raul the finger.
Or have Raul make a play he normally couldn't make
