Same here. I was referring to the five "main" starters though.

Hopefully he’ll fit that description soon. Although he’ll have to pitch like yesterday instead of the two starts before that.

I like midgets more than I should.

I was disappointed when I saw him start against the Marlins a week ago

He couldn’t even do four innings and already had 90 something pitches. Hopefully we will see more of good Dickey to come.

So according to Zumsteg, the following candidates are being considered for the GM post

Paul DePodesta
Chris Antonetti
David Forst
Kim Ng

(No doubt there are other candidates in the mix as well)

Sounds good to me.

Given that list I would expect that they’re making a serious run at candidates that know how to evaluate talent and has knowledge of new school statistics.

by ThundaPC on Jun 25, 2008 3:41 PM PDT up reply actions

But if they're letting Lincoln be involved in the hiring process for the new GM

Doesn’t that suggest he will be around after said GM is hired? It doesn’t seem like ownership would let Lincoln/Armstrong make these decisions if they were planning to axe them and change the organizational philosophy that permeates their decision-making.

Maybe I’m mistaken, but I take it as a bad sign that they’re really on the way out.

by OlSalty on Jun 25, 2008 4:07 PM PDT up reply actions

Putting together a list of candidates doesn't mean much.

It’s hugely unlikely they’ll be able to do anything until the offseason with these people who are working for another team.

Is there a good reason Mets fans are upset with Reyes?

Or are they just picking on the best players like people do about Ichiro? And I know Ichiro is better than Reyes and Reyes isn’t the Mets best or second best player.

Reyes is having one of the best hitting years of his career and is on pace for ~60 steals as usual. Unless his defense has been utterly craptacular (Which I’m not sure about) they don’t really have a good reason to pick on him.

Too much bloom lighting in the demo

makes those evening type games really annoying to play. The new animations for WR/RB are kinda cool but QB animations still suck.

The new time out thing is a bit better than the old one, it actually seems to do something.

Matthew's theory on art:

If I could have done it, it’s not impressive.

I was at SAM last free Thursday and one of the modern art pieces was a white canvas with a diagonal black line from corner to corner. That’s it.

by Matthew on Jun 25, 2008 5:27 PM PDT up reply actions

I could shit that out in 2 minutes.

The definition of a line:

The figure defined by a minimum distance path between two end points.

Scoreboard
1. a mark or stroke long in proportion to its breadth, made with a pen, pencil, tool, etc., on a surface: a line down the middle of the page.
2. Mathematics. a continuous extent of length, straight or curved, without breadth or thickness; the trace of a moving point.

I know exactly which piece you're talking about.

Every time one of my friends bring up modern art, I use that piece as an example of why the entire style is overrated.

by BrianL on Jun 25, 2008 5:29 PM PDT up reply actions

No, the entire style isn't overrated.

Like every form of art from painting to music, 99% of what is produced sucks. The problem with modern stuff is that we don’t have the filter of time to weed out all the suck yet.

by Smegmalicious on Jun 25, 2008 5:30 PM PDT up reply actions

This is probably true.

Hopefully in 50 years when they have “art from the early aughts” exhibits, all of the above stuff has been trashed.

by Matthew on Jun 25, 2008 5:31 PM PDT up reply actions

Exactly, but it'll probably take more than 50 years.

Just imagine how many crappy paintings there were back in the day.

Art has to move on since photography and such takes care of portraits and reproductions.

I went to the Centre de Pompidou in Paris.

It is the modern art gallery there. I stared at a black canvas for a long time totally making fun of it in front of everyone. I was like Oh, now this is the Ultimate painting! Then I looked at the title and I shit you not, translated into English it was titled “the Ultimate Painting.” That was awesome.

On my honeymoon we visited the Australian Museum of Modern Art

while we were in Sydney. Why? Uh, because it was right there. Anyway, there were two works that we still chuckle about to this day:

  • A row of mayonnaise-type jars on a mantle, each one with a wadded-up kleenex inside
  • A whole wall with Ping-Pong balls suspended on strings of various lengths.

Definitely. Not. Art.

They should do this commercial with Raul in left

but make it a routine play that normal LF’s could field. Then have the ballgirl give Raul the finger.
