Why being aggressive on the basepaths is dumb
Like this is news.
We're 56-14 on the bases so far this season. That's a pretty good success rate - second in the AL, as it happens.
But that's Ichiro. If you take away Ichiro's 33-2, the rest of the team us 23-12, and that's not good. That's that's 65%. That's too low. A team this crappy can't give away runs, and getting thrown out stealing more than a third of the time isn't going to endear the team to the fans or make the game more exciting or whatever it is the team thinks having the baserunners fail a lot will accomplish.
We have Ichiro. 33-2 is good. Let's let him steal and stop running up the CS numbers for everyone else.

It's nice to see Ichiro ramping up his steals this year while maintaining his high success rate.
I was afraid the “Ichiro has the ability to steal 60 bases” stuff would lead to a bunch more CS. You rock, Ichiro.
Further proof that Ichiro is no mere mortal
which makes three of them on this team (four if you count Lincoln) and kinda makes you wonder how they could be so awful.

2/3rds success rate really isn't all that bad.
Ideally, you would really like to see it up over 70%, maybe 75%, but it really depends on when those attempts come. The non-Ichiro M’s that have gone 23-12 certainly ain’t killing us. That’s the least of our worries right now.

The more outs from CS
They quicker the games will be over. I see no problem with this.
Also, Ricky Henderson would beat the crap out of you for your topic.
