PrintKeep in mind that it's very very early. You need to give these things a day or two to see if swelling was hiding anything or the like.
That being said, the word currently is a slight sprain. A negative x-ray and Felix is talking like he won't miss a start. However, the team would be crazy not to skip at least once just to be safe, but for now they are dismissing the need to use the DL as an option.
And as a possible sunny side effect, with Bedard needing to miss a start as well, we could be close to seeing our favorite pitcher with a hyphenated last name get a start.

Personally, I've always throught the 5IP by a starter to qualify for a win was a stupid rule.
Just me, though.

Especially considering the guy who comes in after him can go fewer innings and get that same win.

i havent seen the play where felix was hurt yet, but did it seem as bad as pujols taking out the san diego catcher? cause i believe that guy is still out

It is a Viva El Birdos thing, our leader never uses capital letters, so I don’t either as an homage.
I have now seen that play where Felix was hurt, and from how it looked to me, it was minor compared to the Padres catcher. Hope that may make you guys feel a little better.

I know we can flag comments, but is there a way to flag a blog? Whoever that Jeff guy is doesn’t deserve to be part of SBNation. At least if I was in charge of SBNation, or simply had a blog of my own on this network, I would be embarrased by that. I'm embarrassed to part of a network
that has blog with commenters who wouldn’t react emotionally if Albert Pujols went down with an injury.
Their lack of understanding about what sports as an escape is to many people is a negative reflection upon those of us that do empathize with those feelings.
I'm proud of us. Today was like the Lookout Landing of old.
GTE, after being sadly absent, made a glorious glorious return. I was amazingly joyful, blindlingly angry, and I laughed my ass off through it all.

Also, I think I realized that no matter what, the Mariners(or at least Felix) will ALWAYS been #1 in my heart.
The DBacks and Danny Haren beat the Red Sox on ESPN, and I barely even cared. And while Micah’s homers and hitting are awesome, my emotional reaction to those were completely dwarfed when it comes to Felix’s Grand Slam.

I hope RRS gets a start. I think he deserves a chance to see if he can do it. I know he’s always been a flyball guy, but he’s been a big strike out guy too. Of course, this year his Ks have been down and his walks have been up, but last year and through the minors he was a big strike out guy. Maybe when Morrow’s healthy, he and Brandon can get stretched out together. How bout a game where they each throw fifty pitches or something. It’ll be like Philipe and Hume in the minors.

I’m not so sure. I think they’ll shuffle the rotation to push his start back a few days.
I have bought a NY newspapers with a picture of Felix celebrating on the back cover.

Death threats
I seem to be in the minority here, but I was appalled by the death threats against Beltran on this site following the injury to Felix. I understand that we all especially love Felix, not only because he’s awesome, but because he’s practically the only Mariner worth watching this year. I also understand that him getting injured is our worst collective nightmare. That said, death threats, even ones obviously made in jest, are simply unacceptable in this day and age. You never know what crazy person you may be unintentionally inspiring. I’d like to further point out that the USS Mariner site loves Felix too, but there was no negative commentary against Beltran, let alone threats, on that site; everyone knew it was just a stupid accident. I think your people need to think a little more carefully about the example you’re presenting to the public.
