Mariners @ Padres, 6/27-6/29
This weekend series is sneaking up on us, so if any of you are going to be around and feel like meeting up, either leave a comment or send me an email. Looks like we're on pace for the following matchups:
Friday: Washburn vs. Baek, 7:05
Saturday: Silva vs. Wolf, 7:05
Sunday: Felix vs. Peavy (!!!), WHY 1:05
Assuming the Mariners don't do anything funny with the rotation what with their offday on Thursday...yeah, next Sunday looks incredible. Next Friday does not.

I used the proper forms all of those words.
Your= "belonging to you" You're= "You are" (like the song)
Sunday looking a lot less incredible with Felix's sprained ankle.
Figures we’d get robbed of such a matchup in this wretched year of our lord, 2008. And ironic, in that I witnessed the King’s first (and until today, only) hit and RBI last year at Petco on a Sunday.
Top of the 3rd, Mariners Batting, Tied 0-0, Chris Young facing 7-8-9
— 7 54% J Burke Single to P (Ground Ball to Weak 3B)
1- 4 64% W Bloomquist Single to RF (Line Drive); Burke to 3B
R 1-3 3 70% F Hernandez Single to P/Bunt (Bunt to Weak 2B); Burke Scores; Bloomquist to 2B
Batista picked up the vulture win that day (6-10-07).

Baek is gonna own us so bad.
"It didn’t really bother me at all," Johnson said. "If it would have, he’d probably be in a stretcher and I’d be out of the game."
~Randy Johnson on Doug Mientkiewicz taking too long to step into the batters box
Something to like all weekend
Baek v Washburn: Hey look, the same skillset! One costs money, the other we gave away!
Silva v Wolf: Hey look, a pitcher I wanted us to sign who went on a one-year cheap deal against a pitcher I wanted no part of who was expensive and defense dependent!
Felix v Peavy: boring.
Seriously though, fuck work. I’m so tempted to just quit and drive down for this. Burn in hell (for now) ESPN.
That's why they invented personal days

I think it's more the quitting that tempts me.
I’ll be down in SD at some point this year for sure.
What better time than now?
...am I persuasive?

Labor Day Weekend: natural 3-day holiday.
No, not really. Then again, it’s not really that I need to be persuaded. I need a job I like to hire me and agree to start Aug 1 so I can take 6 weeks off.
If they paid better
Robert’s radioshack sounds fun.
Need a second job?
You could sell drinks in the safeco field or qwest field crowds. I heard Beer guys make a killing doing it.
Jl/Robert '08: Promise for a CoachCage tomorrow!
I did it as an independent contractor as Qwest field
And basically you are paid on a certain commission. I think I got like 10-15%, but I think as the weather got colder and less people showed they upped it to 20%. Its a hard job, and I couldn’t sell alcohol because I didn’t have an alcohol server’s license at the time (now I do). I was stuck selling water and Jones soda, and while it sold, it was harder to make a sale. It was easy for the beer person to make sales, he just had to stand there and there would be customers. And I think since beer costs more he made better commission. And tips, the tips are pretty good.

Don't you work there?
Yes, I'm a girl. Yes, I know baseball. Yes, I even drink beer.

Sunday's the only day I can make it, and I'm damn sure making it.
If it doesn’t work out, that sucks, but it’s my only day off for the series, and for the love of balls, it’s Felix vs. Peavy. I can’t remember the last time I was this excited to watch a game featuring the worst team in baseball and the most boring team in baseball.
So I’m down to get some beers beforehand if anyone’s around. (Jeff, I’ll send an e-mail, too, just to be annoying.)
I love Jake Peavy
It’s one thing to be amazing. It’s another thing entirely to be amazing with a monster wad of chaw jammed so far up your cheek that you’ve got a better chance of swallowing it than ever spitting it out. I think Felix should start chewing because even if his numbers got as good as Peavy’s (which would be amazing…the idea that we have a guy in our rotation that might someday be at Jake Peavy’s level blows me away), Jake could still say “Well, sure, but can you do it with a handful chaw wedged against your gums?” and the answer, sadly would be no. Seriously, I chewed once and I couldn’t stand. Jake Peavy can throw a no no (not that he has, but you know he can). That’s so much man, it might as well be two men. In fact, I bet Jake Peavy had one of those conjoined twins and absorbed him. It’s the only thing that would make sense.

I'm down for Sunday.
Was planning on going to all three anyway, only day I can’t do is Friday (semi-date @ the game).
I just realized!
My friend’s wedding is on Sunday and I will miss Felix vs. the Peav. That is going to be the worst day of my life. Damn you, Francis Albert Jequinto! Why didn’t you check the probably pitching matchups before planning your wedding?
At least he didn't schedule it for a sunday during football season.
Seriously, my friends and family know only two things can keep me from watching the Saints. A birth or a death.
Yeah watch out for rotation changes.
Forecast here in NY is thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow.
And of course I have tickets to tonight and tomorrow. Fuck me.
Go Nova
Going tonight as well
One game though might not screw up the rotation. Cause both teams have off Thursday, if say Tuesday gets cancelled they push everything back and Felix is still slated for Sunday. The real problem is if one of the games gets cancelled no make up which would be a problem. I feel like they won’t do that though because the Ms arent coming to NY the rest of the season.
Hmmm, I don't have Sunday tix yet, so I'd be down.
Plus I’d imagine it can’t be that hard given the quality of the local nine in SD rivals the quality of ours in Seattle.

Sunday matinees sell tickets pretty fast
by Jeff Sullivan on Jun 23, 2008 9:16 AM PDT up reply actions
So should we all just get individual tix then?
by seattlebruin on Jun 23, 2008 9:34 AM PDT up reply actions
Did you get the email Jeff sent out?
If so, that might be a better way to coordinate this. Are you coming from LA?
Just for kicks I looked for 6 tickets together
I got the right field seats @ $13 each. We might be able to get better tickets in a smaller block.
That sounds fine to me
I just got the email just now, replied to all.

I'll be there with my gf for Saturday/Sunday's games.
Anyone familiar with the downtown SD area? We’re staying at the Motel 6 in downtown.. Is there much to do around there.. And would it be safe to walk to/from the game (more so at night) without getting shot/mugged?
Im just hoping we take 2 of 3 from our rivals.
But gutsy teams like ours always step it up against a rival..
Ill be in the upper deck Sat and behind the M’s dugout on Sunday. Where is everyone else sitting?

Is it really much of a treat though when we expect it?
I mean look at Saturday, who didn’t see Batista blowing that save?

Let's not relive Saturday.
Thanks.

I you have no hope, your spirit can't be crushed.
Your= "belonging to you" You're= "You are" (like the song)
So is the consensus Saturday or Sunday?
I need to figure out which game to buy tickets for and if I need to plan motel stuff.

Going to Sat's Game
All,
I emailed the group but just wanted to reiterate (and spread the gospel to others who didn’t get the email) that I’ll be there on Saturday evening. Our plan (me + 2-3 buddies) is to sight-see then get to the Gas Lamp around 5:30 or so, where we’ll proceed to drink it up before the game. Assuming that there will be plenty of LLers there, it would be great to have a specific bar to meet up at, if you guys aren’t saving all your energy for the Sunday meetup. Either way, I’ll be seeing you guys around the park, no doubt.
I just sent out an email
but based on the response, Sunday’s the best day to get together and have a few drinks.
