Way to go, Tigers

Give up some of the best names in baseball.

The American League is a joke

first they get beat by an 82 win team in the World Series, now their best team is owned for a second consecutive day by a Pujols-less Cardinal team. Time for the 4-A league to man up and play by baseball rules, and not those used for high schoolers .

I just saw Idiocracy for the first time with my girlfriend last night.

Laughed our asses off. Lowbrow genius, and I pretty much agree with the theme. We rented it at the video store because I’d seen people on LL discussing how great it was. Just wanted you to know that you were right: from this point on I’m turning to LL for all my date night DVD rentals.

And now I gotta run and have dinner with her parents. Let’s not make today’s game a remake of Ass: The Movie.

It’s still funny, but it also used that old 90s-era sitcom formula. The laugh tracks, the annoying fact that apparently only six people in an entire radio station ever say or do anything, the silly situations they get into, the seasonal episode where everything takes place at a weird location (space, the titanic, etc). Not as good as I remember it being.

My favorite was Phil Hartman in the mental hospital.

by Slica on Jun 21, 2008 5:41 PM PDT up reply actions

Phil Hartman

is genius.

I think if they didnt force so many seperate stories each episode, the show would of been among the best few sitcoms of all time. Great show, but I think if the network gave it a fair chance and Hartman wasn’t murdered, the show would of left a legacy as it grew.

Seinfeld’s best season were in the middle, for example.

by Slica on Jun 21, 2008 5:30 PM PDT up reply actions

They shouldn't have replaced Hartman with Lovitz.

The first episode of s5 was wonderful, and the second episode was funny until Lovitz appeared on the screen. His character was so incredibly disagreeable and unfunny it ruined the whole show.

...and the new cast is pointless.

I’ll take comfort in that a mediocre episode of House is better than most of the stuff on tv, even when House’ antics become more and more cartoony. Realistically, I just accept that House peaked in s1, and I’d be surprised if they could better it.

I guess the reason the formula has been bothering me lately is because they haven’t been developing the characters much beforehand so all there is is the diagnostic back-and-forth that I care less and less about since I don’t relate to any of the patients anymore.

by OlSalty on Jun 21, 2008 5:42 PM PDT up reply actions

Plus I feel that House has been moving backwards since s1, and he needs to grow.

On a good show you can look at a character in s7, and realize how much their character has improved since the first season.

There are some exceptions in rock.

The common thread is that they never really hit the big time.

I saw Dead Moon a whole bunch of times over a ten year period (which was the second half of their time as a band, when the core of the band were in their mid-50s) and the best shows I saw were in the last two or three years of their run.

What paper? School is out, and summer classes shouldn’t have started yet.

Semesters are not exclusive to the East Coast.

Yes, I'm a girl. Yes, I know baseball. Yes, I even drink beer.

I knew someone was going to say that

As soon as I typed it. Our first summer session is finishing up next week

Yeah

I liked getting out early in undergrad (at the same school I’m in grad school at-Penn State), but when I came home to Seattle for the summer only my Wazzu friends would be done

I think there's something wrong with my Disney Princess Fruit Snacks

They’re not transparent anymore, they’ve kind of taken on this solid rubber hue, as if they belong on the end of the pencil as an eraser. Should I be concerned?

Or a text message?

It wont kill anyone to use it.

Its like sandals. Showing off feet harms people like myself, while simply putting on a real shoe wont hurt you. Or socks. Anyone can do it! It takes 2 seconds of your time. And saves lives.

When Washburn is traded to Philly and proceeds to be decent.

but the fact that he’s still playing Raul in left means that he can’t be any better than “not bad”.
