Next M's Manager?
There is a recent article on fannation.com that speculates on future managers for the Mariners. Of course, the potential new GM would have to be hired first, but if you were the new GM, who would you want? (I didn't included a seventh option, Brad Mills, mainly because I've never heard of him, and six options are plenty).
(PS. I'm a visiting ANer, live in Portland, so I follow the Mariners quite a bit as well, when I'm not rooting for the A's :)

I'm not sure how much the field manager matters (I mean look at your A's)
but I’ll take Joey Cora in the spirit of getting some new ideas into the org (we’ll see, I’m just not enamored with retreads for the most part)
True. Perhaps the solution is really getting the right GM.
JP Riccardi should be available soon. ;)
Anyway, here’s a better link to the original Seattle Times article that fannation quoted.

Maybe you're right...
He might be too soft…

Bobby V. would be cool, but that documentary on him makes him seem content in Japan.
“The Zen of Bobby V”. Awesome documentary by the way.
Yeah
Icon in Japan… embattled manager in America… icon in Japan… embattled manager in America…
I don’t blame Bobby for never wanting to come back here.
The Mariners do have ties to Japan though
Maybe Ichiro and Kenji could help recruit him? I mean Ichiro’s fame is Japan is still big as ever even though he plays in America now.

I'd be absolutely shocked if Bobby V goes anywhere.

Why would they?
Ichiro and Kenji are probably not too thrilled with the Mariners themselves right now. And this never minds the fact that neither one ever worked with Bobby or knows him at all.
Joey Cora
Would be interesting but I doubt the team would REALLY go after him since he’s great friends with Guillen and Guillen speaks (too much) his mind. Doubt Armstrong or Lincoln can deal w/that type of manager. Lou was enough for them to never go that route again.
My requirements for a new manager:
A) Doesn’t actively hinder the team’s chances of winning.
B) Has a pulse (optional).
Fine with me.
My standards are hilariously low at this point.

We also have Lee Elia and Sam Perlazzo just incase Riggleman doesn't do his job.

Ready to look up Hargrove's number?
At some point we should have a recap of Lou, Melvin, Hargrove, and McLaren. It would be interesting to get some perspective on strengths and weaknesses. I seemed to really dislike Melvin but maybe he’s actually pretty good. I hated Hargrove until he left and then kinda missed him. McLaren wasn’t too bright and we lost alot so i guess its easy to explain why we didn’t really miss him when he got fired. Everybody liked Lou (if you didn’t you’re probably a douchebag who thought that an umpires shouldn’t have dirt kicked on them).

I'll always have a soft-spot for Lou,
(pitcher abuse notwithstanding), and I think Melvin probably was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, but Hargrove and McLaren definitely and repeatedly violated Requirement A—plus McLaren cried a lot, which was odd.

Melvin was probably the lowest-impact manager we've had over the last ten years.
God I miss having a manager who doesn’t hurt our chances to win.
