Joe Morgan is an Asshat
I was reading through Fire Joe Morgan and stumbled across this gem from a JoeChat. In response to a question re: Willie Randolph, Joe tries to make an argument that managers get more shit than they should; GMs should get blame too. Now while this makes sense in regards to the Mets, Joe decides that there is another good example.
The Mariners are way under .500, for instance, but no one is criticizing the GM, they're looking at the manager.
Unbelieveable. I guess we can give him a pass because Bill was fired on Monday and this chat was on Tuesday...Oh wait.
Just crazy that at the time of the chat the GM had been fired and the manager was still managing. Yay for ESPN "experts."

Sportscenter is still good for highlights.
But their analysis is almost always awful.
I like a bunch of the anchors (Van Pelt, Anderson, and other guys in the Patrick/Mayne mold) but once they cut to the “experts” it’s time to leave.
[This is for baseball only, as their football guys aren’t bad and I can’t hate on the mullet and the tie]
Go Nova
Sportscenter != a shitty movie on TV?
You don’t have to finish it once you’ve started?

I listen to a lot of ESPN radio. It is nowhere near as bad as the tv network.
I especially enjoy Mike & Mike even though it comes on at 2 am up here.
Colin Cowherd sucks
even though I don’t know if he’s on or not anymore.

i agree
I was watching today as Orel Hershieser (sp?) was making comparisons between the mariners new draft pick shields and major leaguers. The two pitchers he compares him to are Scott Shields and J.J. Putz. Out of all MLB relievers he finds one with the same name and one from the same team that drafted him. He must have put a TON of time and research in finding those two guys. What a joke.
I keep cereal in my pocket to feed 'em.
Yeaaa.. It's Fields.
Which kinda blows a whole in the middle of that post – but the message is still the same.. The “experts” are hardly worth watching.

Name issues aside,
I find it hilarious when experts make comparisons like that. You can almost always see right through them and figure out how they arrived at that comparison, and it’s often just:
1. Find guy of the same race.
2. Compare!
I remember ESPN’s announcers a few years ago calling Phil Ivey “The Tiger Woods of Poker,” which really just means “The Black Guy of Poker.”
The excellent black guy of poker.
But unless he’s dominant and unstoppable, I don’t see the Tiger comparison.
I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.
He's the best player in the world
and the reason that I always try to duck my head into the high roller rooms when I’m in LV. There are pretty substantial rumors that he loses millions playing craps up and down the Strip.

I enjoyed the Adam Reilly article.
The artwork didn’t really capture my attention, though. I get it, I am just not emotionally tied to it like FMJ is (maybe if I read them more I would feel different about it).
