Around SBN: The Worst Team Ever Projected?

Sexson to be released within the week, according to sources

http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20080617/SPORTS/623385744

It's not the greatest source, but I'd believe it at this point. The article says that the team is likely to call up Bryan LaHair to take his spot from AAA Tacoma. LaHair is hitting .260 with 11 HR and 41 RBI, with an .828 OPS. I am not high on LaHair particularly, but anything is progress right now. Mac also mentions in the article that Clement will catch a "majority" of the games after being called up. Let the Kansas City Shuffle begin.

Well

That’d be nice. Barn doors and horses come to mind…... And I’m not real high on Brian LaHair. But if he managed a .700OPS, he’d be our best hitter.

As bad as richie's been

I hope the team is making several more moves, and not just scapegoating him as the only player problem on this team…

Is there any chance

If we hang onto him for the rest of the season that we’d get a compensatory draft pick?

by Scrupio on Jun 18, 2008 10:14 AM PDT reply actions

If there is, I say keep him

Lahair isn’t the solution… not long term anyways

That being said,

keeping Sexson around all season is likely to help us lose, which increases our draft pick, so…

Maybe

But it would be so awesome if it did happen.

I don't really understand why Joh would be a good 1B

He can’t hit. He hasn’t played 1B. Am I missing something?

He wouldn't be

That’s why it would be so funny and beneficial in our quest for Strasburg. I’ve never seen him play 1B but I’m willing to bet he’s going to be substantially worse than even Sexson was if Mac was serious when he talked about doing this.

Arbitration would have to be offered to get the pick.

That’s why we didn’t get one for Guillen. Sexson probably wouldn’t qualify as a Type A or B free agent either.

by Jed MC on Jun 18, 2008 10:46 AM PDT up reply actions

And with his ~$15 million salary...

...he can only be offered a small pay cut in arbitration.

That rule doesn't apply to FA players

Only to pre FA players.

So it sounds like....

The plan is to send Sexson packing, move Kenji to 1B and have Clement as the regular Catcher, or swap the two of them around between those two positions.

Richie was BAD at defense….but this could be a whole new level of bad.

BIG RICHIE

He’s been inconsistent since he got hired
Now he doesn’t do shit, he’s about to get fired
Richie: I’m not gonna stand here in the clubhouse and let you treat me like a 5 year old
McLaren: Too bad you play like one.

I'm gonna miss these.

"It didn’t really bother me at all," Johnson said. "If it would have, he’d probably be in a stretcher and I’d be out of the game."
