LL Softball Sunday June 29 FINAL roll call. (It's Still On!)

I noticed that despite probably one of the highest turn outs for LL softball this year was today, a lot of potential players had father's day plans or something else that prevented them for going (myself included). I am going to make sure there is nothing that prevents me from making this one in two weeks. I figure two weeks is enough notice to make plans, and last time I checked, there is no major holiday on June 29. Basically just commit yourself if you can make it.

Here is the information of time and place:

Time: 1PM, Sunday
Place: 14th and Cherry or 12th and Cherry (Seattle U soccer or Softball field. Depends on what is available)

Roll Call: 8 (9?)

Fin

Two Rs and Two Ls (+1?)

Gomez

Jaejo

wlad-o-matic (Paul)

LantermanC

RED

wwbaker3

Despite people bailing at the last second, its still happening, so its not too late to commit or just show up at the Seattle U softball field at 1 (Address is stated above). If you have friends who have nothing to do on this sunny, warm day, bring them along as well!

I haven't looked at my schedule...

but Seattle U’s field is pretty small. I preferred playing over by Garfield when we did that. Maybe I’m in the minority here. But just an idea. I’d rather play without fences than with short fences.

by brayden04 on Jun 16, 2008 1:17 AM PDT reply actions

I agree in principle to playing on June 29

I do like having the fence, even if it is a bit short. Maybe there’s somewhere else that we could get access to with a longer fence? Doesn’t Rainier Beach have a turf field with a fence? I know I played baseball there a couple years ago and they did.

I really want to come.

Unfortunately I’ve been working two jobs (one of them graveyard) the last month, and into mid-July. So between 65-70 hour work weeks with weird ass scheduling, I probabaly can’t make it. However, if I’m able to actually get a day off sometime I’m totally down. I’ll check back in a week or so. I’m an asset (useless left hander who can’t pitch or hit) to whatever teams I play on.

Its really not that bad. Its like the same exit off the freeway you’d take to get to Safeco, James st exit. 165. Then you go left on James street, and follow and it will turn into Cherry and you will eventually see 12th ave. I suggest you google map for better directions but thats the general idea.

I think these get tentatively scheduled for 1-6pm

And if we have enough people we start play around 1, and probably feel done with playing between 4 and 5, with some eating/hanging out afterwards.

At least, that’s what the experience of the last couple times suggests. I think if there are more people (i.e. teams) we end up playing longer into the afternoon.

Practiced the real thing at some soccer fields today...

I think I’m going to give Robert a run for his money for LVP…
1) I can hardly hit it further than I can throw it…
2) I’m not sure if I can throw from 3rd to 1st
3) How in the hell does J Rollins or Ichiro hit homeruns? I’m 5’8” 140, so close enough in size (height anyways), yet I coudldn’t hit a fly ball to Ichiro in center if I tried.
4) How in the hell can Beltre fire in those rockets from 3b so hard and accurate?
5) It’s hard to hit a ball by throwing it high up in the air, and waiting for it to fall down
6) Softball bats suck, too light
7)This is going to be fun
8) don’t hit balls with your dogs around, one of the balls hit m 12 lb dog and she was scared of the softballs the rest of the time
9) I went to QFC afterward to get her some dog treats, which turned out to be good because I got stuff to make a sandwich, also, bagel sandwiches are 10x better than normal sandwiches.
10) Also good thing, the Gamecrazy next to the QFC employs two hot girls for some reason (i don’tknow maybe it encourages gamers to buy games?)
Thats it for now…

Softballs, being bigger, are harder to throw sharply than baseballs

I’m sure Beltre’s throws to 1st with a softball would float a bit as well.

Also, if you can make consistent contact and can hit the ball past the pitcher, don’t worry about your hitting. For more info, ask johnbai about The Gomez Shift.

Well I just figured more people knew where it was

We can do it at Cal Anderson if its better than the Seattle U field.

The Seattle U Field has a fence

and the Cal Anderson field is often used by ultimate frisbee-ers and also has access to a pitching mound.

I say we keep with Seattle U for simplicity’s sake.

I forgot

the trouble with Seattle U is that occasionally the field is locked. There is still open area, but the nicer field is locked.

Alright so Seattle U softball field it is

Seattle U is just easier for everybody, plus they have shade and it’s gonna be hot as fuck tomorrow.

I am sorry, but I am bailing too.

Tweaked my back yesterday working on the house and it still hurts this morning.

Have fun!

Looks like so, we could still do something

Also, there may be a few lurkers that will show up. I wouldn’t keep my hopes up about that though. We’ll figure something out.

Sorry to putz out on you guys

but I’m not going to make it today either.

This is great.

I don’t feel so bad because everyone else is bailing, but I’m not gonna make it either. My co-worker’s wife is having her child today and guess who they’ve tapped as his replacement…

Stupid babies!

So now there's eight, maybe nine of us?

I’m waiting on a phone call from my friend to see if he wants to play.

Yea, basically, but

I am kind of hoping on a few lurkers showing up, and some people will bring their friends. We could probably figure something out though.

well shit, I just packed up my stuff, and was getting ready to go

and my car’s not in the driveway! My mom took it (it’s really her 2nd car. If she gets back soon enough, I’ll be late.. but if she doesn’t get back until like past 1:30.. I probably won’t come..) Sorry

We'll probably still be there at 2 or 3.

So don’t worry about coming late.

Yeah.. I couldn't find 14th and Pine (for food afterwards)

Well I found the intersection twice, one by car, and once by foot, but didn’t find the place. Cya guys next time we have softball. Thanks for the fun.

Haha I passed by Pike 2x...

Some 60 year old dude flirted with me, so I didn’t look long…
He asked me if I was related to Sizemore. Not really sure if he was flirting with me, but I’m not a talk-to-strangers kind of person.

We got those photos uploaded yet?

I was thinking that for whatever year’s template you used for the baseball cards last time, you should use the next year’s template for this one.

The ones I did last time were an original design

It took me until now to upload them, and I’ll take care of it when I go to work tomorrow.
