6/15: Open Game Thread
Washington Nationals at Seattle Mariners, Jun 15, 2008 1:10 PM PDT
With two on and none out in the seventh inning of a 4-2 contest, Yuniesky Betancourt tried to bunt on 3-0, 3-1, and 3-2.
This organization deserves everything that happens to it.
Have fun working out at first, Jeremy.

McLaren said Yuni made the decision to bunt on his own
...At least on the 3-2 count.
They’ve been trained to do stupid things so well, they don’t even have to be told to do them anymore.
McLaren's version of "on his own":
“Now listen Yuni, we got two runners on and a chance to make things happen. I’m not going to tell you to bunt, but it’d be real swell if you did. Don’t get the wrong idea, I’m not telling you to bunt, I’m just saying you might lose playing time if you don’t. Now go up there and swing the bat-or don’t swing it, you know, your choice-and make me proud.”

I hope Raul, Kenji, and Wash collide trying to catch a popup in left field
and Vidro happens to be running around on the field and tumbles over all of them. And they all break their legs.
by Last Fan Of Jose Lopez on Jun 15, 2008 12:07 PM PDT reply actions
Also, why would you bunt in that situation with Yuni?
There’s nobody out, and runners on first and second. Assuming he gets it down, there’s one out and runners on second and third. Obviously they’d intentionally walk Ichiro to take the bat out of his hands.

We've managed to have two decent gamethreads in a row with the heart of the order on the bench
let’s make it 3-3 for the weekend.
Nice analogy.

NOLA came off the bench and hit three homers
it’s was like when the Tony LaRaussa says “fuck it, everybody has the day off today and So Taguchi is hitting third” and they win anyway.
And then returned peacefully to the bench.

Oh God...
I guess I wasn’t paying attention at that point. Did he get the bunt down or just strike out?
He fouled it with the 3-2 bunt
And was out.
I am here.
Sober.
Still bad to the bone, though.
Keys to the game
1) Turn up the dial
2) Score early for Washburn
3)Be the better team.
Great work, Krueger.
He just said Tim Redding pitches mid 90's, up to 99 sometimes.
It’s like they try to be misinformed about everything.
Tim Redding has been a better pitcher over the last 2 years than anyone would've expected or given credit for
But he sure as hell can’t hit 99.
Fuck giving Washburn run support.
Only Felix deserves that.
Jarrod Washburn has been pitching well recently?

Who's the worst hitter in the Nationals lineup today?
Whoever it is, he’s going 3-4.
Boone is nowhere near the worst hitter in the Nats lineup
He’s actually been a pretty great super-sub bench guy. Yeah, I’m as surprised as you are.
Let's go Nationals!
Sweep the hated Mariners! Finish off this bitter interleague Washington-Washington rivalry! WOO!
[As explained in last night’s game thread, as a Nats AND M’s fan, I’m conflicted…I even have a hard time saying which team takes precedence, given that I’ve followed the M’s since 1995, but I’m a DC native who’s proud as fuck that we finally have a team again. I choose to root for the Nats on the logic that they’re already building intelligently towards the future and have a competent FO/GM/scouting group (Kasten/Bowden/Rizzo), thus they don’t need the Strasburg help that the M’s need.]
Oh, Willie is playing SS....
Is Yuni riding the pine for being such an incredible moron yesterday?
I'm pretty certain that he was not bunting 3-0 and 3-1 on his own
in which case he is being punished for not succeeding in following the moronic orders of his manager
How much will Seattle be donating to the 2008 Home Run Challenge fund?

My assumption is that the Water Temple is a dual-time thingummybob like in Zelda: Oracle of Ages...
...and that this is the trick to figuring out WTF to do. Am I right, am I wrong?
You are right.
I don’t remember too much about the fire temple, it’s fairly big, and some backtracking might be required. I think that there may be some things to pull at the beginning as well?
Water Temple is the most frustrating/satisfying temple ever.
All's I know is that it took me like three straight hours to get through the Forest Temple
In between falling off of high ledges (whilst trying to snag Gold Skulltulas) and forgetting about the various twisty corridors and getting pwned by Wall Masters, it was ugly. So far the Fire Temple is pretty pleasant.

Oh don't get me wrong, Symphony of the Night was fucking awesome
but Chrono Trigger was a Nobuo Uematsu and Yasunori Mitsuda all-star collaboration of awesomeness.
I played Lost Odyssey because it seemed like a good idea at the time (it wasn't),

Pretty much the only way to play it now is to find a ROM
either the original SNES cartridge or the PS1 ROM.
Coolroms.com
You can get an SNES emulator and the CT Rom there.
That's like saying you've had soy ice cream
While having yet to experience Double Fudge Chocolate ice cream
Chrono Cross is pretty good too
But nothing tops the original.
Chrono Trigger >>>>>>>> Chrono Cross.
Though Chrono Cross did have some very, very well written music.
Any difference
between PS1 and SNES version? Or a straight port?
I would like to use the Song of Time
to go back 4 years and stop Bavasi from becoming GM of this team
Is that before the water temple?
The water temple was annoying.
Im trying to remember some tricks for that temple…been awhile since I played it.
It must be before the Water Temple (unless I'm doing shit out of order)
Because I’ve done the Forest Temple and every indication suggested that this was the next place to go. I think I could’ve gotten into the Water Temple (in the future) but my fairy bitch kept prompting me to go to Death Mountain, so here I am.

What the hell is bavasi waiting for? Let Wlad play everyday as well. This is utterly rediculous how bad this team is manged from top to bottom.
Wlad needs to go back to AAA to get his bat straightened out.
Reed is playing better than him.
It's not even an issue of who's playing better
Wlad isn’t ready and has some shit to work on. Leaving him up here now is hurting his development and the Mariners need to do something about it. You know like, they needed to do with Morrow.
