Washington Nationals at Seattle Mariners, Jun 15, 2008 1:10 PM PDT

With two on and none out in the seventh inning of a 4-2 contest, Yuniesky Betancourt tried to bunt on 3-0, 3-1, and 3-2.

This organization deserves everything that happens to it.

Have fun working out at first, Jeremy.

McLaren said Yuni made the decision to bunt on his own

...At least on the 3-2 count.

They’ve been trained to do stupid things so well, they don’t even have to be told to do them anymore.

by OlSalty on Jun 15, 2008 12:05 PM PDT reply actions

McLaren's version of "on his own":

“Now listen Yuni, we got two runners on and a chance to make things happen. I’m not going to tell you to bunt, but it’d be real swell if you did. Don’t get the wrong idea, I’m not telling you to bunt, I’m just saying you might lose playing time if you don’t. Now go up there and swing the bat-or don’t swing it, you know, your choice-and make me proud.”

by Last Fan Of Jose Lopez on Jun 15, 2008 12:14 PM PDT up reply actions

Also, why would you bunt in that situation with Yuni?

There’s nobody out, and runners on first and second. Assuming he gets it down, there’s one out and runners on second and third. Obviously they’d intentionally walk Ichiro to take the bat out of his hands.

by andrewgolfsalot on Jun 15, 2008 12:11 PM PDT reply actions

Oh God...

I guess I wasn’t paying attention at that point. Did he get the bunt down or just strike out?

Still bad to the bone, though.

Let's go Nationals!

Sweep the hated Mariners! Finish off this bitter interleague Washington-Washington rivalry! WOO!

[As explained in last night’s game thread, as a Nats AND M’s fan, I’m conflicted…I even have a hard time saying which team takes precedence, given that I’ve followed the M’s since 1995, but I’m a DC native who’s proud as fuck that we finally have a team again. I choose to root for the Nats on the logic that they’re already building intelligently towards the future and have a competent FO/GM/scouting group (Kasten/Bowden/Rizzo), thus they don’t need the Strasburg help that the M’s need.]

Oh, Willie is playing SS....

Is Yuni riding the pine for being such an incredible moron yesterday?

by OlSalty on Jun 15, 2008 1:12 PM PDT reply actions

I'm pretty certain that he was not bunting 3-0 and 3-1 on his own

in which case he is being punished for not succeeding in following the moronic orders of his manager

CHARGE THE MOUND DUKES!

Don’t put up with that shit from D.W. Washburn!

by esoteric on Jun 15, 2008 1:13 PM PDT reply actions

You are right.

I don’t remember too much about the fire temple, it’s fairly big, and some backtracking might be required. I think that there may be some things to pull at the beginning as well?

Water Temple is the most frustrating/satisfying temple ever.

by Limerickx on Jun 15, 2008 1:19 PM PDT up reply actions

All's I know is that it took me like three straight hours to get through the Forest Temple

In between falling off of high ledges (whilst trying to snag Gold Skulltulas) and forgetting about the various twisty corridors and getting pwned by Wall Masters, it was ugly. So far the Fire Temple is pretty pleasant.

The water temple was annoying.

Im trying to remember some tricks for that temple…been awhile since I played it.

by Slica on Jun 15, 2008 1:19 PM PDT up reply actions

It must be before the Water Temple (unless I'm doing shit out of order)

Because I’ve done the Forest Temple and every indication suggested that this was the next place to go. I think I could’ve gotten into the Water Temple (in the future) but my fairy bitch kept prompting me to go to Death Mountain, so here I am.

by esoteric on Jun 15, 2008 1:23 PM PDT up reply actions

I was literally SCREAMING at that stupid fairy when she kept on saying "HEY!!!" as I kept failing during the Dampe fire race.

It was so fucking hard to get that damn heart container piece. I KNEW that if I got under a minute something would come of it, though. I’m just glad I didn’t waste my time only to get a big rupee or something.

by esoteric on Jun 15, 2008 1:27 PM PDT up reply actions

I almost wish I was using an emulator for this...

...as a guy who stopped his original path of gaming with the SNES, I’m woefully unused to the stupid joystick feature (I’m playing on a Gamecube, maybe it’s better on N64). I would prefer to use a keyboard and save states so much.

by esoteric on Jun 15, 2008 1:32 PM PDT up reply actions

I remember when N64 emulation finally caught on.

I’d spend hours downloading 16-32MB cartridge ROMS on a dialup modem.

Click on the letters to get links to download. Only illegal if you dont own the game. (technically you have it with your friend right now so hurry!).

Or, you could just download Utorrent and got Torrent sites like mininova and get games that way.

Its not the best for other systems, but its the best I ever found for N64 roms.

Rom Hustler is great but im not even sure if the site works anymore. If it does, its the best rom site overall, ridiculous amount of games.

One thing, I think Vigilante 8 Part 2 doesnt work good. Very glitchy. Just a heads up.
