So, Millwood's a guy who throws strikes, right?

That’s good news for us.

I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.

by Llewdor on May 5, 2008 4:54 PM PDT reply actions

I too relied on our hacktastic ways

to carry us to victory against strike throwing pitchers, but then Paul Byrd came along…

Someone say something witty.

by Omerta on May 5, 2008 4:56 PM PDT up reply actions

I am gonna be an extremist

we either sweep or make the Rangers look really really good.

SWWWWEEEEEEEP

by PShwa on May 5, 2008 4:55 PM PDT reply actions

So much suck concentrated in one ballpark

I foresee a disaster of biblical proportions.

by BrianL on May 5, 2008 4:55 PM PDT reply actions

Check out the Rangers' run prevention stats.

Our hitters facing that might cause a paradox that destroys the universe.

I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.

by Llewdor on May 5, 2008 4:58 PM PDT up reply actions

Creepy.

Based on that, I predict the world will end by the 7th inning.

by BrianL on May 5, 2008 4:59 PM PDT up reply actions

Will everyone at the ballpark die?

Cause I would watch a movie about that

by Robert on May 5, 2008 5:10 PM PDT up reply actions

I don't watch House :(

but perhaps “skip the game thread and play COD4” day

by seattlebruin on May 5, 2008 5:00 PM PDT up reply actions

House is too formulaic

and while amusing, I’d rather kill terrorists. Or catch up on the Office (which I shamefully admit, I am only on episode 4 of season 4 right now)

by seattlebruin on May 5, 2008 5:01 PM PDT up reply actions

And House is formulaic at winning

so you can understand why House has my allegiance.

by JeffS on May 5, 2008 5:04 PM PDT up reply actions

I'm a Mariners fan

please explain this “winning” concept to me

by seattlebruin on May 5, 2008 5:05 PM PDT up reply actions

There's a knock at your door at 2 in the morning

and it’s 2001 Eliza Dushku, who took a time machine seven years into the future and needs a place to crash for the night

by JeffS on May 5, 2008 5:12 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah?

Joss Whedon is right behind her and he too needs a place to crash for the night. Such is the price of Dushku.

Coldly devouring reason as if it were a delectable snack

by Frosty Raptor on May 5, 2008 5:14 PM PDT up reply actions

But this is the episode where House kills terrorists.

You’ll never forgive yourself if you miss it.

I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.

by Llewdor on May 5, 2008 5:02 PM PDT up reply actions

Fine fine fine

but if I watch and House doesn’t kill any terrorists, there will be HELL to pay

by seattlebruin on May 5, 2008 5:04 PM PDT up reply actions

Hell will happily take your money.

I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.

by Llewdor on May 5, 2008 5:05 PM PDT up reply actions

Suspension of disbelief is awesome

A guy like Gregory House would have been malpractice’d to oblivion in real life.

Fans are typically idiots.

by The Typical Idiot Fan on May 5, 2008 5:06 PM PDT up reply actions

Have you ever browsed an alphabetical list of movie titles?

Check out the movie titles that start with the word “Don’t”. They’re very funny.

I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.

by Llewdor on May 5, 2008 5:03 PM PDT reply actions

No, I haven't seen such a list recently.

I just thought I’d mention it.

I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.

by Llewdor on May 5, 2008 5:06 PM PDT up reply actions

Oh, the films themselves probably suck.

But the titles are funny.

Don’t Mess with My Sister

I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.

by Llewdor on May 5, 2008 5:09 PM PDT up reply actions

Fucking Mariners...

They better win this game by 10 points to make up for that debacle in New York.

by OlSalty on May 5, 2008 5:14 PM PDT reply actions

Now that would really make our pythag depressing

Pretty much the opposite trend compared to last year

by vkut79 on May 5, 2008 5:15 PM PDT up reply actions

Tonight there is more on the minds of the players and fans than just a ballgame.

Sometimes it takes a sobering event like this that remind us baseball is a mere sport, and once in a while we all need to take a step back, examine our lives, and gain some perspective.

A Guess:

How many times do the announcers say that Pitcher X “pitched one hell of a game” when it reality is was simply the offense that blew, not any pitching talent.

0, 1, 2, 3, or all 4.

...and now I'm here

by CapSea on May 5, 2008 5:23 PM PDT reply actions

Precisely

God I am going to cry the day when he leaves the Mariners for some teenage girls

August, 2009: A hotel in downtown Cleveland, Ohio

Ibanez: :chewing tobacco out on the lobby steps, he notices several TV trucks pulling up around the side of the block: Hmm.
moments later..
Washburn: :entering his hotel room: Wow, those Indians tore me up today.. I am bushed. Honey, where are you?
looking around the hotel room, Washburn turns the corner and walks into the kitchenette
Chris Hansen: Why don’t you have a seat?
Washburn: On the mini-fridge?
Hansen: Just have a seat, I need to read a few things to you.
Washburn: Oh man oh man oh man this is totally going to ruin my Cy Young campaign.
outside the room…
Ichiro: I wonder what’s going on in there?
Ichiro: :punches self in face:

Team FIP of 3.59

probably closer to 3.50 after tonight.

If only they scored runs

Halladay weeps :(

The poster formerly known as Matt.

by bluemax on May 5, 2008 5:53 PM PDT up reply actions

Halladay is THE MAN

Not only has he put up an ERA of 3.00 (with decent peripherals to back it up) but he is averaging 8+ IP per start. He is a TOR starter and 2 relief aces all in the same being.

Yes, I’m a fan.

by Alex B on May 5, 2008 5:59 PM PDT up reply actions

hahaha

The Rockies announcers are butthurt over Larry Walker being in the Cardinals dugout in uniform.

Where’s your messiah now godboys?

by JI on May 5, 2008 6:16 PM PDT reply actions

What's the deal with Feierabend?

Has he blown his “cheap Washburn” upside?

by chinn on May 5, 2008 6:42 PM PDT reply actions

Woo!

At last, something exciting to talk about on game threads.

by Alex B on May 5, 2008 6:44 PM PDT up reply actions

Am I the only one

Who laughs like a hysterical loon whilst taking part in these game threads?

I don’t care if I am, just curious as to how deadpan/chucklesome the rest of the community is.

by Alex B on May 5, 2008 6:49 PM PDT up reply actions

I laughed at Graham's "but rocks" post.

But I don’t laugh at things I read online. If I find it funny, perhaps if I smirk, I consider that a(n) “LOL”

I've never spit liquid all over my monitor

but I have been known to LOL every now and then.

Then last time I internet LOLed was reading the question post.

Krueger's first key to the game?

Win.

Good job Krueger. You are clearly a baseball guru.

...and now I'm here

by CapSea on May 5, 2008 6:56 PM PDT reply actions

at least he's openly saying it now

If you logically defrag his other “keys” you eventually arrive at “the key to winning this game is to win this game”

by JI on May 5, 2008 6:58 PM PDT up reply actions

what do you follow that with?

- win
- do not lose
- also, try and win

by Nick S on May 5, 2008 6:58 PM PDT up reply actions

ThundaPC is technically right.

His key to the game was “Recipe for success” – which he said was “play stellar defense, don’t give up runs and get a lot of runs” which is pretty much the definition of winning the game. Plus it has “success” in the name. You can’t lose and have success.

...and now I'm here

by CapSea on May 5, 2008 7:01 PM PDT up reply actions

Krueger's Keys to the Game

- Recipe for success (play defense, see bullpen do well)
- Make them catch it-or not (Texas defense sucks)
- Blip on the screen (Washburn’s last (bad) outing)

by ThundaPC on May 5, 2008 6:58 PM PDT reply actions

House doesn't start another another two hours

so until then I declare this an open thread of parkour.

by JeffS on May 5, 2008 7:03 PM PDT up reply actions

My friend used to be way into it

Then again, he severely needed a rad attribute. He was like 5 foot even, 13 years old, weighed 78 lbs, had to ride with a carseat or back seat, and could eat a horse at any meal.

Fynn was a good kid.

by qrsouther on May 5, 2008 7:07 PM PDT up reply actions

I still do sometimes, but I am 6’3” and skinny and thus exactly the wrong body type to be any kind of good

by Nick S on May 5, 2008 7:08 PM PDT up reply actions

Am I the only one who doesn't watch House?

My dad hates it, so I don’t watch. I assumed it sucks due to my dad’s superior taste in all arts.

by qrsouther on May 5, 2008 7:02 PM PDT reply actions

No.

I don’t watch TV at all, really, except for sports or news coverage sometimes.

I bought it for the bottle. Last beer was Olde Suffolk English Ale, which was delicious.

I think that's a plot.

Not a meme. But that’s been true since ever.

Also, why you watched Step Up is an issue. We need to talk about the movies you choose to watch.
