Remaining in the spirit of positivity, Brandon Morrow is very quickly turning into the kind of player I'd pay good money to watch. And I guess Felix is okay too.

So how good did Felix look today?
All I saw was the liner hit right back at him.
Ugh.
Flyball Felix continues. :(

Manny hit #500 today, and Junior hit #599
Vitor is going to be dropping by more often
I can't remember if it was in Crasnick or Stark's chat this week...
But they stated that Griffey will veto any trade attempt to Seattle. I could dig it up if someone needs proof.

Does he think he still has a few years left or something?
Otherwise that doesn’t make sense.
"Hole in one, eh?"
I think his willingness to come here was predicated on Seattle being a contender
That’s just a guess, though.
Hooray!
Instead of trading Clement for him, we’ll overpay for him in the offseason!
No, they didn't say he'd veto it.
They said it wouldn’t make sense for the Mariners to do it since they were out of contention

Have either of them seen how this organization operates?
I mean, they live in a world where the Mets are apparently the worst team in baseball.

Sounds like Felix was dealing
While it’s a damn shame that Morrow’s 100 mph heat in the 8th won’t become a reasonably located 95 mph heater fronting two breaking pitches in the rotation, I’m not going to complain about Morrow bringing electrifying unhitability to the 8th inning.
Discovery from post-softball meal: Anchor Stout and Boundary Bay Scotch Ale would be great beers by themselves. To have them back to back provided one of the best beer buzzes I’ve had in a while.
Oh, and Friday night’s Minor League Wrap-Up is now complete.
Is it really that hard for someone who can throw a 100 mph fastball to throw a consistent 95 mph as a starter?
Joel Pinero in 2002 as a reliever topped out at 97. His FB was good(92-95) during his one good year of 2003 as a starter.

Not once they're stretched out
Every pitcher throws faster as a reliever going full-out for 10-20 pitches than they do over a 90-120 pitch effort.
My point wasn’t that Morrow can’t do it, because he certainly can, but that the Mariners won’t do it because they see his 100 mph heater blowing people away in the 8th and they go OOH.
There is no point in letting Morrow throw in the bullpen
Unless they are going to stretch him out. This season is lost, why aren’t they trying to get the most value out of him while he’s still young?
Just let Lowe be the 8th inning guy. He’s not as explosive, but he needs to be groomed into that role anyway. Corcoran can come up and fill Morrow’s spot if they want to kick him back down to AAA. Or he can pitch long innings when either Washburn, Batista, or Silva go 5 or less and blow the game early which will happen many more times this season.
I realize watching him mow hitters down in exciting fashion is one of the only reasons to watch Mariner baseball this season, but priorities are priorities.
Ahhh
