Around SBN: Odds On Peyton Manning's Next Home Includes Three Teams

Watch out for Hatteberg Sightings

Its almost a definite.

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/mariners/2004444796_marinotes29.html

Well he fits the Mariners organizational requirements.

1.) Old? Check

2.) Washed up veteran? Check

3.) Pointless and unexplainable sign? Check

4.) Better options within? Check

Sexson is playing better ball than this guy...scary huh? The Mariners seem to believe moving this guy into a everyday role with fix all his problems. Huzzah. Well whats the worst that can happen right? We get deeper into the hole than we already are? We pay Sexson millions to watch from home and we pay Hatteberg money to play like Sexson. Yay!

Also Edgar, as bad as Sexson is based strictly on balls in play data (small sample size alert)

Hatterberg is hitting as good or better than Sexson, more line drives and a lower BABIP

Speaking of old veterans

Randy Johnson is heading to the 7th inning needing 2 K’s to pass Clemens for #2 All Time.

Felix Hernandez may be The King, but Justin Upton is a GOD.

Didn't get it. But he tied Clemens.

Has a 3-2 lead, if the DBacks hold on, he’ll have 289 wins.

Next start is Tuesday against the Brewers. The first K he gets will be history.

Suck it Clemens.

He only got the one K, tied with Clemens.

5000 Ks?

He’s not going to get to 300 wins this year and he’s said he won’t bother trying to come back if he gets injured again, but does anyone think he could hold on long enough to reach both milestones next year?

He only needs 328 more Ks, which I think he could easily achieve pitching the rest of this year and a full season next year.

I think he has a somewhat realistic shot at 300 wins

although I don’t think it’s probable. I think 5000 slipped out of reach after his latest injury.

There's major doubt that he will stay healthy enough to finish this season, let alone another one.

And he didn’t say he won’t come back if he gets injured period, he just said he won’t come back from another back injury.

Regardless, I think RJ is in his farewell season. He’ll get 2nd place on the All Time K list on Tuesday, and if he gets 300, it wouldn’t surprise me to see him announce his retirement shortly afterwards.

If he were effective this season

(which so far, so good), but he finished the year at 296 wins or whatever, I’d be surprised if he didn’t come back for one more.

I saw the post to late

Oops on my part.
And Yes while Sexson’s and Hattebergs starts are hard to compair because of AB number…they both suck and giving away more moneyt o washed up players isn’t on my list of “To Do’s”

A Hatteberg signing would be a lot like the Wilkerson signing

it doesn’t cost much and there is a decent amount of upside (of course there is a lot of downside). The money amount would be small, so I wouldn’t worry about that. Plus it’s not like Hatteberg is going to be blocking any prospect for playing time.

It’s a cheap and potential improvement on Sexson/Cairo. Actually, I’d imagine the M’s would probably platoon Hatteberg/Sexson.

Disagree with 4

unless the crazy notion of Reed -> LF Ibanez -> DH Vidro -> 1B actually is possible
