LL/USSM Gathering: June 14th
I'm in a bit of a rush, but consider this the long overdue official announcement. While I'll direct you to Dave's post for the more detailed information, here's the short of it:
Who: us, others
What: us, others gathering together
When: June 14th (Saturday), 1-5pm (M's get started against Washington at 7:10)
Where: Seattle Central Library, big huge meeting room
Why: commiseration, self-loathing
How: gath·er
[gath
-er] Pronunciation Key –verb (used with object)
| 1. |
to bring together into one group, collection, or place: to gather firewood; to gather the troops. |
Cost is $20, but there'll be cool people there, like me, so you should consider your invitation an honor and a privilege. If you'd like to attend, send an email to ussmarinerfeed@gmail.com with the number of reservations in the subject line. Space is limited to 100, so be quick. To pay us.
Hope to see you there. It'll be a blast.
(Note: this is not an open thread. Any and all posts by Corco informing the community that he'll be out of town at the time will be deleted.)
(Also note: we'll talk about a potential softball game on the 15th in some other thread yet to come)

I really wish I could come. It's too bad I don't have
$20.

so if we go and talk about something other than the M's
will the USS mariner people delete us
I actually think
They’re going to form a long line and pat each other on the back for the duration of the event.
Darn, I was going to say something about the highways and traffic
but Corco made it a TOS violation. >:(

Just remember, 12 hours @ 60 mph is only 7 hours @ 100 mph

Oh, un-rec'd
I thought you were going for “and $500 FOR gas,” which would have made the substitution of an entire word that much more hilarious

hay guys
i take it those of you that are going to this event have tickets to the game that night. is there a designated section to target for getting tickets for these groups?
also, canadian dollar is great, so it will cost me $3 in gas to get down there.
He's just hoping.
Jeff’s afraid of his love for you.
I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.
I was actually going to suggest a LL-SoCal get together that weekend
since HD is at Lake Elsinore, but I guess obviously Jeff won’t be coming…

There we go.
We’ll talk about it at another time, I’m sure, but I’m in for the Sunday game. Hopefully it’s Felix Day again.
Yeah I'll make a post about it sometime soon
there aren’t that many of us, though.

mlbtv is playing the vitor artinez commercial in a loop instead of showing me the game
I am unrec’ing all their comments.
Hmmm, gonna have to see if I can get that day off......
Felix Hernandez may be The King, but Justin Upton is a GOD.

No go
Checked the commencement schedule, and considering that they’re seating graduates for the ceremony at noon that day, it looks like it won’t be possible.
My mother’s flying out the 15th, so we’ll see about softball. It’d be kinda crappy to have her spend her last day sitting in a bookstore all afternoon waiting for a shuttle because I’m out.
I don't even know if it's supposed to be secret but sure, go nuts
I will neither confirm nor deny your guesses, though.
by Jeff Sullivan on May 28, 2008 10:28 PM PDT up reply actions
Ok my longshot guess is Manny Acta, with the Nats being in town and all.
Though I’d imagine for that to be true, he’d have to be in the beginning of the afternoon.

I'd love to see that.
I was watching to see if he’d wear more hats after Jeff’s plea, but I’ve recently cancelled my cable and just listen to the radio.
I think most of the people here are terrible at softball
I’m not, but then I’m amazing.

Since I live in Chicago, I shall NOT be there.
On the other hand, it puts me in the weird position of my two favorite teams meeting one another head to head. I have no idea what I’m supposed to feel here. One I’ve been following since 1995, the other is my hometown team that I’ve watched since the beginning.
Maybe I’ll just root for spectacular failure from all.
You can root for the Nats to win
That’s win-win since it puts the Ms closer to Strasburg.
I'll be at the game on the 15th.
I was really hoping that Nick Johnson would be back by then, but it doesn’t appear as though he will, which bums me out. I’m considering wearing my Nationals hat and Beltre shirt.

There's a very good chance I can make it to this...
I just need to make sure that I can get my furniture moved out of my apartment during the week.
Jeff - Question
How much did you pay for your tickets up/how much are you spending, what airline, where are you flying out of, etc?
I’m trying to book a ticket to get up to Seattle in July, just wondering what kind of prices you got. I’m finding mostly in the ~$275 range, which I’d prefer not to pay if I didn’t have to.
Alaska, $375, San Diego
There was a flight for ~$100 less but I was looking for specific timing.

i'll take this time to recommend farecast.com
for your fare scouting needs.
That's pretty cool
I hope prices go down though :( $287 isn’t awful per se but…
