5/25: Open Game Thread, Part 2
The offense actually looks to have a plan today, which to say the least is a wee bit unsettling.

You know, I was thinking about that, and I realized that I like arenas that cater to entertainment
because yeah, mostly, I’m a fan of winning, but since I don’t get to that many games between not having much money (yet) and living in SD, when I get to Safeco, I’m there to enjoy the park and enjoy live baseball as much as I am invested in the team winning. Of course I’m much happier when they win, but if they lose, it won’t ruin my ballpark experience, like it ruins my day when they lose and I watch.

I met him one time
He seems like a genuinely good person. Very sincere, great to talk with. Can’t be any worse than Blowers.

My dad was the coordinator for our little league
and one year he got Dan Wilson and Jamie Moyer to show up at the instructional clinic. Two of the nicest guys I’ve ever met in my life.

BTW, Nationals 4, Brewers 0
Ned Yost = not long for his job.
Tim Redding = shockingly decent this year.

Tell yost to go swing the bats for his players.
by JI on May 25, 2008 11:59 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
The Brewers are awesome, they've gotten Redding's ERA under 3.00.
It blows my mind to see a Nats starter with over 60IP with a 2.95 ERA.
Hell, it would blow my mind to see an M’s starter with over 60IP and a sub-3.00 ERA.

Unfortunately it's only a matter of time before Tim Redding breaks himself

Tim Redding was a guy I wanted the Ms to get two years ago
when he was available for the price of a minor league contract.
by Matthew on May 25, 2008 12:03 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
He just retired the Brewers on 10 pitches in the 5th.
So far, 76 pitches, 7K, 1BB, 0R. His ERA is now down to 2.90.
I’m under no illusions as to how much the Nats suck, but I’ll take every tiny victory I can get. I still have faith in their FO and long-term strategy, unlike the M’s.
by esoteric on May 25, 2008 12:10 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
The Nats have specialized in matchstick men over the last three years.
Patterson, Hill, Redding, N. Johnson, Alex Escobar, and even…Chris Snelling!

Is A-Rod worth much more than Beltre?
As far as all around defense, speed, and hitting.
I’d say he’s worth more, but not by much.
by marinator on May 25, 2008 12:00 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
Isn't Beltre's range a lot better?
I wonder how many more runs Beltre saves and how many more runs A-Rod produces with his bat
by marinator on May 25, 2008 12:02 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Beltre's defense probably ~5-10 runs better than A-Rod's
by Matthew on May 25, 2008 12:03 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
and A-Rod's offense is like 50 more runs than Beltre.
by Matthew on May 25, 2008 12:05 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
A-Rod is a average to good glove who is the best hitter in the American League.
I’d wager he creates more runs than Beltre saves.
