Something interesting going on in New York...
As we watch the Mariners continue to lose in hilarious and awful fashion, I have to wonder if now is the time we start to stretch out Morrow into a starting pitcher. I was watching a post-game interview last night on Sportscenter, where Joe Girardi said he was going to start stretching out Joba Chamberlain -- at the major league level. The "process was started" when Joba pitched not just the 8th, but the 8th and the 9th inning in a Yankees win.
Are Morrow and Chamberlain similar pitchers? Not quite. Morrow still is inconsistent with his control, but their situations are very similar. Young pitchers starting in the bullpen, with the ultimate goal of transistioning to a starter. It'll be interesting to watch how the Yankees handle this situation, if they're able to actually get him in enough situations where he can pitch more innings but still help his team win
Obviously, the Mariners season is pretty much done and we don't really NEED Morrow up here to help us win, because we can't win anyway. I'd stick him in AAA right now and let him work his pitch counts, but the Mariners are not all interesting in doing that.
Either way, I'd like the Mariners to put some thought into the process. Will they? Doubt it. I mean, I'm sure Mac is completely happy with his rotation. Sigh.

But Mac sure hats his catchers.
I mean, why would they let their pitchers suck so badly?
I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.

Because the pitchers like seeing Mac beat the catchers with hats.

Yawn.
Nothing about the Yankees is interesting.
And Morrow is never going to be a starter in Seattle.

I am less sure of this now than I was 2 months ago.

Which is hilarious considering he's finally become a decent option.

His secondary pitches look better than last year.
I like midgets more than I should.

He actually has secondary pitches this year.

You watch ESPN, I see
Yessiree Bob. When a hot Yankee pitching prospect in the relief role goes two innings, it’s obvious that they’re stretching him out to be a starter, and it’s worth 5 minutes of SportsCenter air time.
If the Mariners did the same thing with Morrow? NOT A FUCKING PEEP.
I hate ESPN. Why don’t they just change their name to the YES network and get it over with.

Why hate ESPN?
You likely don’t hate Lifetime, Nickelodeon, the Gardening Network, or any other cable channel that you don’t watch. The same should go for ESPN. Indifference is key.

They used to not suck, now they do.
They make people who watch dumber.

The more appropriate question is "why not hate ESPN"?
Along with being a subsidiary network of NESN and YES, they also continue to perpetuate the “good old boys” methodology behind baseball. Their sports reporting and journalism has become nothing more then WWE esque “sports entertainment”. It took them years to finally report on any sport outside of the three major US sports, and now when they do it’s half assed at best.
They’re shit.
The thing about Lifetime, Nickelodeon, the Gardening Network, etc is that they don’t preach that they’re something they’re not. ESPN likes to believe that they’re a sports news and reporting network when they’re not. Lifetime knows they’re a chick channel, Nickelodeon knows they’re geared towards children, etc.
It’s as bad as Cartoon Network showing live action shit, which is a whole ‘nother rant.

Sorry, but there's more to that.
Girardi (NYY Manager) announced that it was their intention to move him there. When Bavasi or McLaren says the same, you’ll see the a lot of the same reaction here you saw in NY.

That's basically what my response was going to be
I get pissed off at ESPN’s big market bias. I don’t want to hear Yankees, Red sox every five minutes… but that’s not the point of the post. The point is that Girardi said the process had begun.

How many times do I have to tell you to post smaller images?

That's a given.
But the concept behind the headlines remains interesting. And maybe the hype could give our illustrious leaders a good idea for once.

How good does Chamberlain even project?
Is it merited or is it the typical overhyped Yankees coverage?

Hard to know, since we don't know how his velocity will respond
but right now he throws two awesome pitches (which is 1.5 more than Morrow throws), so he’s got a good chance.

I'm rooting pretty heavily for ineffectiveness followed by injury.
Which naturally means he’ll own everyone.
