Sounders, anyone?

So myself and a friend (who are both wildly addicted to soccer... also I'm looking to go to a sporting event in which I don't have to work) are going to head to today's Sounders game (5-18-08)... anyone have any advice for pre-game festivities, avoiding Safeco traffic, or what to scream and yell during the game? (Something like Save Our Sonics, MLS, or Brazil Sucks... three more words. That's good.)

I didn't see this until after the game...

For Keith in the future and all others possibly interested, Sounders are playing the rest of their home games at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila. (stupid stupid stupid.) I know fuck all about Tukwila and if my memory is correct, the area around the complex is kinda isolated. That’s bad. There is a Mad Pizza at the complex and they have beer. That’s good.

Yeah, Starfire, you say?

Friend and I found out while sitting at Qwest Field the game was at Starfire. Still made kickoff though!

Tried asking one of the fans of the team where it said all games were at Starfire sports complex. One guy said, “Oh, it’s on the pocket schedule.” I have really easy access to that living in Bellingham. Another fan said “It’s on the web site—did you check seattlesounders.net?” After research I see no information that the game’s in Tukwila.

All in all a vapid experience talking to those fans, maybe I spoke with the wrong ones, but at least they were making noise, unlike the rest of the crowd. Sounders win 4-2. Chick selling sodas? Really hot.

You know what else is shit?

Traffic in Everett that closes four lanes northbound. Thank you, Highway 99, for your contributions to state history and I-5 avoidance.

What is NOT shit, however, is that Gyro place on 2nd Ave that’s two blocks from Qwest Field. Definitely going back there sometime for chow.

I-5 construction -- killing your plans since 1958!

It was really surreal seeing that amount of traffic at 10:15 PM on a Sunday night. For anyone who’s interested, Broadway Street acts as Highway 99, which runs parallel to I-5—it’s a great way to avoid the Everett bottleneck.
