The Zen of Bobby V
Anyone watch the documentary on ESPN2? I recorded it on Tuesday but just watched it tonight, and I thought it was pretty good. I know next to nothing about Japanese baseball, so, for me, I found the attitudes of the players and the behavior of the fans to be the most interesting part of the film -- the pep rallies, the chanting, the banners, etc.
It was made by three NYU film students and premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. It seemed less corny than most ESPN productions, though it did have the obligatory "montage with kinda sad music" moments, but they weren't overdone.
It also focuses on Valentine's -- along with the whole Chiba Lotte Marines organization's -- efforts to create a farm system in Japan to try to strengthen the league and eventually help prevent the best players from leaving for the United States.
All in all, worth a viewing, I'd say.
If you're interested, here's the New York Times' take on the film .

Also, Friday is Bike to Work Day. If you have a bike and live fairly close to your place of employment, jump on that shit! I try to ride three days a week, but with laziness and hangovers, it usually ends up being one or two. But yay Friday!

Umm, very OT here
But I’m driving to work today and I see a blue Forerunner with the plates “Teej” and a blazing fastball in the back window. Is that you?
Yeah, I live in S.D.
So, unfortunately, that wasn’t me. But at least I know whose car to steal next time I head up.
As the home team,
I’ve decided that that car is actually yours. So if you see it, you can take it.
...and now I'm here
Sweet, thanks.
I’m still driving a Maxima my parents bought when I was 8 years old, so it’s about time for a change.
I've got an '88 Nissan Hardbody pickup I'm selling.
Has 330,000 miles on it. It’s yours if you want it!
That would really help my commute times
(if they’ll let me land on 99 in front of my office)

F-5 Tigers? Wow.
I wonder if you’d be allowed to import those if you bought them.
I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.
Well given that my company manufactured them (Northrop)
and has sold them to the US government, I’d say importing them won’t be a problem as long as the military is allowed to look at them and certify that they’ve been properly de-milled. I know a lot of rich folks purchase jet fighters so they can hire their own pilots to take them for thrill rides and such. It’s not cheap but if you’ve got the money…

Their are already privately owned F-5's in this country.
Like seattlebruin said, they just have to be certified as properly de-killified.

I've been looking for a new house!

How much you selling it for, and does it run?

Actually I'm not really selling it.
It’s a workhorse vehicle I keep around when I need to do truck things. My brother is actually using it now because his Acura is a theft magnet.
Damn. I'm looking for a truck for that exact purpose.
Just something to have around when I need to do “truck things” like haul stuff do the dump, or pick up bark for the yard…

I'm not biking from Everett to Shoreline and back.
I spend enough time dealing with work during the week that I’m not adding an hour (I’m guessing) to each trip on of my commute every day.

He won't approve of the footprint I'm about to leave up his ass either.
CAPTAAAAAAIIIIIN PLANET!!!!!!!!
Besides, I already sold my Explorer that got crappy mileage and started driving a little 4-banger Honda, what more does he want from me? Plus, pooping in the garden really cuts back on my water use and the amount of fertilizer I need. Pisses off the GF though.

I can't bike to work. I don't even own a bike.
I don’t own a car, either, and it’s only about half a mile to work, so I’ll just keep walking, if it’s okay with Al Gore.

WALKING IS NOT OKAY!!
It’s BIKE to work day, dammit!!
Some people kids I tell ya…..
