The Huskies are better than Miguel Cairo

So while the Mariners are playing some of the worst ball ever down in Sodo, a quick drive up to Montlake will get you the best baseball Seattle has to offer right now.

That's right, the UW Huskies are in 3rd place in the Pac-10 and in the midst of the Apple Cup series. Huskies won the first game 12-3, lost the second 5-1, with the finale tomorrow.

UW southpaw Nick Haughian (Pac-10 Strikeout leader) will look to shutdown the Cougars to take the series. A win tomorrow will put UW at 10-8 in the Pac and 31-17 overall, definitely in good position for postseason play.

They'll have to get through Arizona State and Stanford in the next two weeks though, but with 12 wins the Dawgs could squeeze their way into an NCAA Regional, with 13, they should have no trouble.

The Dawgs have arguably the best starting pitching in the Pac-10 and, while their offense has sucked (Mariners style) they picked things up against USC last week. Kyle Conley was named Pac-10 offensive player of the week last week.

Seriously, while the M's are stinking it up, the Huskies are playing pretty good ball, take a look.

Remember when Tim Lincecum pitched for UW?

Yeah, Cairo couldn’t have hit him then either.

Holy crap

Nick Haughian is the Pac-10 strikeout leader? I went to school with him in every grade up until we graduated, and went to different colleges. We were like best friends in 5th grade.

That is some crazy stuff.

Yeap He sure are!

He’s been pretty solid this season

Huskies

win the series… Haughian isn’t Stephen Strasburg but he’s darn good. CG 1 run effort, 11 strikeouts, 99 on the year for Haughian, still Pac-10 leader.

Perhaps

but the Dawgs have a good chance to take at least one with Merry and Haughian on the mound, in that case, they’d be in fairly good position to see some postseason action.

Reply! Reply!

What the hell got into Conley? He’s killing the ball all of a sudden.

Dunno...

He’s been pretty solid most of the season but yeah all of a sudden he’s been tearing the cover off the ball. Almost every at-bat he’s been crushing the ball.

And yeah.. forgot to hit the reply button in response to the previous poster if thats what you mean hah.
