I hear there's some kind of length requirements for these new fangled "fanpost" thingies, so here you go:
Haystack Rock is a 235-foot (72-meter) tall monolith (or sea stack) on the Oregon coast in the northwestern United States, the third-tallest such structure in the world. A popular tourist destination, the rock is adjacent to the beach and accessible by foot during low tide. Haystack Rock tide pools are home to many intertidal animals, including starfish, anemone, crabs, chitons, limpets, and sea slugs. The rock is also a refuge for many sea birds including terns and puffins.

Cannon Beach is awesome
that's where I'm retiring to...
... in 35 years
Buy the house now
because in 35 years it'll be even more ridiculously overpriced than it is now. Which is saying something.
Nice Guys Finish Third - Hopelessly lost, but makin' good time.
That's okay, there aren't any Subways in Cannon Beach.
Although I highly recommend the steamed clams at the Driftwood.
Fun Fact: Angels third baseman Chone Figgins' first name is actually pronounced "Shawn." And his last name is actually pronounced "Weinberg" (it's a silent "Figgins").
Those are also excellent
so very excellent

Hmmm there's also this candy store that has really cheap Jelly Bellies - like $5.50/lb last time I was there
that's money. Freaking money.

I know where you're talking about, if you like sweets that's a pretty cool store.
I also like the brews at Bill's Brewpub, and Duckdive Ale smells and tastes like weed (talk about cramming hops into a beer!).
I'm pretty sure I'm not retarded.
Hmmm... we didn't go to Cannon Beach last year...
so I haven't been since turning 21. I may have to try that this summer =)

I highly recommend it. Also try the Celtic Copper Ale over at the Driftwood.
I'm pretty sure I'm not retarded.
I was just there a couple weeks ago.
I love that place, but pdb is right, the housing prices there have gone through the roof.

I'm hoping that
either
A. My parents retire there (a definite possibility) and that I can get the house from them later
OR
B. It won't be such a trendy place to go when I retire and housing prices on a beautiful area of oceanfront property will have subsided somewhat (yeah, right)

I won the freakin' lottery
my wife's parents just finished building a retirement place in Rockaway Beach, about 20 min south of Cannon Beach. They've said that "when they're gone, it's ours". So I recommend that you get your parents to buy the house.
Nice Guys Finish Third - Hopelessly lost, but makin' good time.
Eh...
I'm really OK no matter where they go since they're talking about other places on the Oregon coast too
But props to you - that's as close as you can come to winning the lottery without actually winning the lottery =)

Now I just have to hope my wife doesn't dump me

Just don't take her to Eugene very often
and you should be fine.

We won't be going back there
we're going to start seeing UA games in Corvallis next year.
Nice Guys Finish Third - Hopelessly lost, but makin' good time.
Corvallis is nice
Go to Pauley. Less winning but more fun =)
by seattlebruin on Apr 9, 2008 11:27 AM PDT up reply actions
The minute Pauley becomes a 75 min drive from our house
we'll be there every year. I've always wanted to see a game down there, though, and I wouldn't even care who it was, as long as it's a pac-10 game.
Nice Guys Finish Third - Hopelessly lost, but makin' good time.
Scarily enough, Pauley is precisely a 75 minute drive from my house
and you MUST go to Pauley. It's not much of an arena by modern standards (not great amenities, crowd is very far from the court, somewhat mild fan base), but every time I walk in that arena, I get chills. That may also have something to do with the fact that I went to UCLA but...

I highly recommend becoming good friends with pdb!!
I'm actually pretty lucky, a friend of mine owns a hotel right on the beach in Cannon, so I get a pretty sweet deal whenever I want to go down there.
Fun Fact: Angels third baseman Chone Figgins' first name is actually pronounced "Shawn." And his last name is actually pronounced "Weinberg" (it's a silent "Figgins").
It won't
the crowd spent most of the song booing the crap out of it.

Why would you replace Neil with ANYTHING?
Its such a long way down/Maybe I should try a floor below
A softer landing might just ease the pain
Being a coward is such a drag
I'm not clear on that either, but doesn't Fenway play Sweet Caroline too?
Maybe they just want to be different.
I'm pretty sure I'm not retarded.
They should play Cracklin' Rosie.

On second thought, that's not a real "sing-along" sort of song.
How about "I Am...I Said"
Man, I forgot how much I loves me some Neil.

I vote for "Girl, you'll be a woman soon".
Seems like a NY kind of song!

Yeah, that'd be good, too.
Kinda' creepy. I like it.

Fenway started it
so if Shea does it now it's just a cheap ripoff. They should get their own song.

Hahaha
The first thing that came to my mind was Neil Young, then I realized it was Neil Diamond.
...How profoundly sad is it that I can tolerate Neil Diamond?

It's not sad at all.
Neil's the shit. Neil Young is also pretty awesome.

I'm half of 50.
I've loved Neil Diamond since I was at least 16. Neil Young is a more recently acquired taste.

Neil Young, Neil Diamond.
They both rock. But neither of them can hold a candle to Barry Manilow.
I'm pretty sure I'm not retarded.
Neil is WAY better than Manilow.
They're not even in the same class.

I was kidding.
But I did grow up with a Mom who is a massive Manilow fan, so I can pretty much name every song he's ever performed. Actually, my first concert ever was Manilow at the Coliseum (now Key Arena) when I was five. All I remember is we sat a mile away from the stage, and Manilow was wearing a blue sequined coat.
I'm pretty sure I'm not retarded.
I figured you were.
But growing up in the punk scene and loving Neil Diamond made me somewhat defensive of his brilliance.

That's kind of my way of thinking as well.
I might be listening to Stevie Wonder one minute, Mark Curry the next, then Metallica after that. All kinds of music are good.
I'm pretty sure I'm not retarded.
Neil Diamond puts on a waaaay better show than Manilow
and yes, I've seen them both. I saw Neil Diamond when I was 26 and it remains one of the top 10 shows I've ever seen - I don't like all his music, but the guy knows how to put on a SHOW. It was awesome.

More like the entire internet
I saw every site I visit trying to organize mass voting.
The poster formerly known as Matt.
Can we get an official ruling on why Rick Astley's song is despised so much?
Granted once it gets in your head, it doesn't leave for a few days. But it seems people hate it because it is popular to do so.
because he's a skinny little ginger that sounds like a black dude
