Opening Day for the Tacoma Rainiers

Ah, opening day.    Remember how excited we all were on Monday?   It's BACK!

The Rainiers open their season tonight at 7 versus the hated Sacramento Rivercats.   Ryan Feierabend gets the start versus Greg Smith (acquired in the Dan Haren deal).

It's a match-up of flyballers who really don't miss a ton of bats....a great test for the defense of Wlad Balentien and Jeremy Reed.

No Roy Corcoran tonight, so maybe Sean White gets a shot at closing.   Or
The roster should be up at the Rainiers official site, and Jason Churchill had the roster here as well.   If you're looking for a bit of info about these guys, check this out (it's poorly organized and yeah, the final roster caught me a bit off guard.  sorry.).   Positive Paul will be at the game taking photos, so check marinersmorsels or the fanshots section for some of those.   I'll be there drinking beer, so...yay me!   Any other LLers going?

Wear your Rainiers jersey with pride today, people.

sounds like fun

Wish I could go, but it's a bit of a drive. My girlfriend visits her parents in Tacoma every few weekends, so we'll have to get to a Rainiers game next time we're in the area.

Hmmm.

I haven't decided where to post pictures yet. Obviously Churchill gets first dibs, and I've got the technology to transmit files from my camera to my computer (which will hopefully be set up in the press box). But the press box will probably be a little more full tonight, being that it's Opening Day, so we may not be able to do what we want. It's in my best interest, though, to get shots up as soon as possible, since I won't have a ton of time at home to work on them.

Really looking forward to tonight!

Tui at third, Wlad in the OF, Clement either as DH or C...

I'll grab shots of other guys, too. Any requests???

Sure - doesn't have to be immediate

I'm sure people'd love to see some of the shots whenever you get the chance.

I'll throw in a request for Chen. I'm betting plenty of people want a shot or two of Tuglett.

Oh, Kevin Witt too if possible.

Any official word on the rotation?

Feierabend
Rohrbaugh
Baldwin
White?
Dickey?

My guess

is Feierabend/Dickey/Rohrbaugh/Baldwin/Barzilla

White and Jimenez to the pen, with Corcoran, Cyr and Woerman.

Oh...and Denny Stark

he may get a few starts early on in the Kevin Appier/Jim Parque role of retired player trying to make a comeback.

They always tire of that by the end of May...

Thanks

I guess next year we can look forward to the comeback of Mike Sirotka or maybe Ryan Drese.

Rosters are set for the minors

interesting that two pitchers for Everett last year didn't get a promotion up the ladder Paredes and Juan Ramirez don't show up on Wisconsin's roster.

Triunfel is still at Inland so in Minaker now.... Aumont is with Wisconsin
Adam Moore goes to AA
Mangini repeats A+
Halman goes to A+ as well..

Just a few of the placements for the M's.

Paredes and Ramirez

It is not uncommon for the team to hold back prized, young Latin American pitchers from Wisconsin in the early part of the season. Aumont, on the other hand, is used to the cold and will find Wisconsin culturally very similar to home, albeit with funnier accents.

oh yeah

Tui is in Tacoma.. not repeating AA to start the year as I thought he might.

Does Tui have a future with the club?

Seems like we're set at 3rd with Beltre and the possibility of Triunfel a few years down the road.

by seattlebruin on Apr 3, 2008 4:40 PM PDT up reply actions

Depends on if they resign Beltre

he's only got another year on his current deal.... Truinfel is a good looking prospect but there's alot that can go wrong between A+ and the majors.

in other bits and pieces
Adam Moore hits a 2 run home run for West Tennessee in the first... Fister is the SP and his first inning line goes 1ip 0h 1r 1er 0bb 2k (2hbp and a WP)....
