Some More Beltre Love

I'm pretty sure he won't keep his current line up (especially the walks), but either way, he's been a major asset.  I just did a marcel weighting his current performance (2008=0.83, 2007=4.83, 2006=3.83, 2005=2.83).  He's a safe Marcel since he's played 3+ years here.  That increases him from about a 2.7 per 600 PA WAR to about 3 WAR, assuming +0 UZR, which very well may be too low, and +0 positional adjustment for being 3B.

.3 WAR difference probably won't make or break us, but it means his hitting the 2nd half of last year was probably legit, and he's probably a better hitter than a lot of people have given credit for (we all knew it).  Also Adrian Beltre is probably under paid at this point!  If it's at all possible, we need to extend him NOW.  Boras won't let that happen, especially while he's hitting like he is.

I <3 .962 OPS in Safeco

At least for a month I’m reminded how it’s like to have a bat like that with an awesome glove since 2001 Bret Boone.

Barry. NOW!!

Hmm... Needs more Bonds.

Ichiro hands you a haiku

reminding you of his existance.

As awesome as Ichiro is,

and he’s obviously ~as valuable, he’s not exactly your typical .300/.400/.500 slugger.

Hmm... Needs more Bonds.

I've just been thirsty for that kind of Mariner since the Junior/A-Rod days, followed by Boone.

I got spoiled for years watching those two while growing up. It feels like no matter how much more knowledgeable I get, I don’t know if it’ll ever go away.

Hmm... Needs more Bonds.

Of course not.

But he doesn’t exactly fit the “awesome glove” qualification.

Hmm... Needs more Bonds.

We need to get him starting at 3B in the ASG.

And starting over A-Rod would be doubly awesome.

Corco, you have been summoned. This will be your finest hour if you can succeed.

Go Corco Go!

Felix Hernandez may be The King, but Justin Upton is a GOD.

This reminds me

of when the old ESPN board hacked/fixed some poll on a Foxsports site to get Ichiro and a bunch of posters as the only options.

The poster formerly known as Matt.

Dude.

This would be the ultimate Corco bombing ever.

...and now I'm here

Well, if the the AS Game were tomorrow

He’d totally deserve it. I wonder if he’ll be better than both Miguel Cabrera and A-Rod come the ASB.
He’s had a monster April, and we all know he has that super talent locked up in him somewhere. I’m thinking this is the year where he makes all the “Mariners overpaid bad” crowd eat everything they ever said.

Some more Beltre love

Here I realize Jim Street is a crap writer, but finally I hope the casual fans give King Awesome the recognition he deserves and he could possibly be an all-star! Like, ZOMG.

Even if the hitting holds up

I don’t see the walks (.409 OBP) holding.

I had a weird hunch Dave Cameron would be talking about him soon :)

And no, obviously not because of this post

But because he’s obviously a BIG time fanboy, Beltre is an awesome player, and he’s been doing all this awesome daily stuff at Fangraphs.

First all star bid?

He didnt make the team in 2004? That seems like a crime.. he hit .315/.355/.580/.935 with 22 HRs, 56RBIs at the BREAK.

Weird.
