Could you quit with the Rays crap?

We get it – you like the way their team is put together, and they have some great young talent.

This is a Mariners blog though and I don’t see many other SBN editors posting praise for other clubs. It’s not funny or anything either.

I like TB

Because they are a ray of hope (sorry) in the war of two evils in the AL EAST… Fuck NYY, Fuck Boston, finally a legit alternative that has a shot at shutting espn the fuck up (not that they will)

Ok...

So support them on their blog?

by ASUBoyd on Apr 27, 2008 1:47 PM PDT up reply actions

You do realize it's not his blog, but SBN's? He signed a contract giving it to them..

So… I kind of expect Mariners stuff and don’t mind the occasional foray into OT baseball related things.

I didn’t realize it was SO SHOCKING to ask for RAYS stuff to go away. This is the Mariners blog, right? ...

They do, a few of them at least.

Why would you? We suck at blogging.

Guys

Let’s stop ganging up on ASUBoyd. Obviously he’s not familiar with LL.

ASUBoyd, take it (Jeff and LL) for what it is, stop kicking the beehive.

by qrsouther on Apr 27, 2008 2:00 PM PDT reply actions

Whatever, forget it.

If everyone here loves the public fellating of the Rays on an M’s blog – fine. Such homerism for these blog writers is embarassing though.

You all realize they can do something wrong and still be good writers, and great contributions to the Mariners community ?

Sorry, butthol. (what? lol.) Didn’t realize it was so controversial to go against the gain here, i’ll make sure to toe the line from now on…

by ASUBoyd on Apr 27, 2008 2:02 PM PDT reply actions

No I'm not butthurt or anything

I’m just saying, drama isn’t welcomed by the type of guys we have here. Just like you wouldn’t say that sort of thing to your buddies across the table from you at your local pub.

And it’s just sort of a local joke. We have more confidence in the Rays than Rays fans. We have nothing to be happy about with our own team.

by qrsouther on Apr 27, 2008 2:06 PM PDT up reply actions

Exactly

Anyone who doesn’t understand this running gag ought to spend more time learning the lay of the land over here before talking out of turn.

by esoteric on Apr 27, 2008 2:07 PM PDT up reply actions

Again,

We don’t need to be hating on him for it. He just needs to know, there’s nothing to really be annoyed about with it. It’s a meme. Same thing with Bonds, Lillibridge, etc.

by qrsouther on Apr 27, 2008 2:08 PM PDT up reply actions

Is it though?

I feel like the Bonds stuff is no problem since it has something to do with the Mariners – get rid of Vidro’s broke ass and bring in some lumber.

Rays though? I just don’t get it i suppose.

I'm offended by idiocy

I respond with things idiots find offensive.

by Graham MacAree on Apr 27, 2008 2:14 PM PDT up reply actions

Is there some group of people that like being told that?

I think if you walked up to most people and said that, you’d probably find the vast majority of people find it offensive

by ASUBoyd on Apr 27, 2008 2:20 PM PDT up reply actions

Most people are idiots

So it stands to reason most people would be offended.

by OlSalty on Apr 27, 2008 8:34 PM PDT up reply actions

I understand where you're coming from

and you do have a point, but the Rays stuff isn’t really THAT excessive, it’s not really a big deal

besides, TB is an easy team to like

Sheilds looked pretty lights out.

So does David Ortiz this year and not in a good way.

by ASUBoyd on Apr 27, 2008 2:31 PM PDT up reply actions

Last I checked

Jose Vidro has been the least productive regular DH in the AL. Ortiz has been the second-least productive.

I, for one, love the Rays.

Oh it gets much better

On the postgame radio show our host had fans walking by stop and sing the tune. Now I’d estimate there were probably 70% Red Sox fans, I doubt half of them know what that song signifies to the Sox.

This comment also made my day:
redsock said… look at how many of these a-holes brought brooms with them.

That’s right, Rays fans are officially “a-holes” to Sox fans, success!

It reminds me a bit of how nutty the last few years at the Kingdome were.

The period of time between when the Rays go for it, and when the new stadium gets built is going to be a blast—especially if the fans any where near as awesome as they were on opening day.
